Last week, we reported that fans are concerned about the Christian singer Justin Bieber’s wellbeing after he appeared disheveled in public and admitted to feeling “unworthy” and like a “fraud” in an emotional post on his Instagram Story.
On Sunday, Bieber added to these fears when he took to his Instagram Story once again to say that he feels like he’s “drowning” as he struggles to “let hate go.”
Bieber Feels Like He’s ‘Drowning’
“I was always told when I was a kid not to hate,” began Bieber, 31.
“But it made me feel like I wasn’t allowed to have it and so I didn’t tell anyone I’ve had it,” he added, referring to hate. Bieber went on to say that hiding this hate made him feel like he is “drowning,” as he’s felt “unsafe to acknowledge it.”
“I think we can only let hate go by first acknowledging its there,” Bieber concluded. “How couldn’t we feel hate from all of the hurt we have experienced.”
Bieber Has ‘Always Felt Unworthy’
This came days after Bieber hinted that he suffers from imposter syndrome due to the rapid rise to fame that he had as a child.
“People told me my whole life ‘wow Justin you deserve that,'” Bieber wrote on his Instagram Story, which disappears after 24 hours. “And I personally have always felt unworthy, like I was a fraud, like when people told me I deserve something.”
“It made me feel sneaky like, damn if they only knew my thoughts,” he continued. “How judgmental I am, how selfish I really am… They wouldn’t be saying this.”
“I say all this to say, if you feel sneaky, welcome to the club,” Bieber concluded. “I definitely feel unequipped and unqualified most days.”

Bieber’s History
Bieber was only 15 years-old when he was discovered on YouTube. From there, he was quickly signed to Usher’s record label. Bieber’s debut single “Baby” was released in 2010, and it was a massive hit. Since then, he has become one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Indeed, Bieber has sold an estimated 150 million records worldwide.
Bieber married Hailey Baldwin, the 28 year-old niece of Alec Baldwin, in 2018. They welcomed their first child, a son named Jack Blues, in 2024. Earlier this month, however, Bieber stirred up fears for his wellbeing by posting his now-infamous photo of himself smoking a bong on an electric bike.

Bieber’s Christian Faith
Bieber has long been one of the only openly devout Christians in the entertainment world. Back in 2015, Bieber revealed that his goal in life is to “live like Jesus.”
“Not be Jesus-I could never-I don’t want that to come across weird,” Bieber said at the time, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “He created a pretty awesome template of how to love people and how to be gracious and kind. If you believe it, he died for our sins.”
“Sometimes when I don’t feel like doing something, but I know it’s right, I remember, I’m pretty sure Jesus didn’t feel like going to the cross and dying so that we don’t have to feel what we should have to feel,” he continued. “We have the greatest healer of all and his name is Jesus Christ. And he really heals. This is it. It’s time that we all share our voice. Whatever you believe. Share it. I’m at a point where I’m not going to hold this in.”
Bieber doubled down on this in 2020, when he took to Instagram to say that he wants “to love and look like Jesus and point people to his miraculous healing power.”
“As all of you know by now I am a Jesus guy,” he wrote in this post. “I follow the teachings of Jesus and believe he is the Messiah.”
