Last week, we reported that the Curb Your Enthusiasm creator Larry David was receiving backlash for saying that he is “embarrassed to be an American.”
Now, his buddy Joy Behar is leaping to his defense by saying that she too is “embarrassed” to be an American. Indeed, she went so far as to add that “we should all be.
Behar Sounds Off
During Friday’s episode of The View, Behar played a clip in which David told Variety that the recent UFC Freedom 250 event that was held at Donald Trump’s White House was “a travesty.” David added that “it was embarrassing. I was embarrassed to be an American.”
Though David received tons of backlash for this, the far-left Behar was quick to agree with him.
“I have — I’m very good friends with Larry David. And so I’m not going to…I think he’s right in many ways,” said Behar, 83. “I mean, you listen to Trump. We have — we used to have friends around the world. Now we don’t have them anymore.”
Co-host Ana Navarro then chimed in, saying, “There’s some people that are going to take issue with Larry David saying something like that, but there’s so many countries where if you said something like that about being embarrassed by that country, you would end up dead.”
“Places like Iran, places like Cuba, places like North Korea, places like Nicaragua, where I fled,” Navarro added.
Behar ‘Embarrassed To Be An American’
Behar later chimed back in to double down.
“I’m embarrassed for this country, the way he’s been treating immigrants,” Behar said. “He’s been separating kids from their families.”
“I mean, my family came over here, like, 100 years ago,” she continued. “The Italians came here, you know, Italian–Americans are some of the most patriotic people in the country, and one of the reasons is because they came from poverty in southern Italy, and came here, and they were like, ‘America, God bless America,’ you know?”
“And now, he treats immigrants the way he treats them,” Behar bizarrely added. “And of course Larry is embarrassed to be an American. In that way, we should all be.”

UFC Freedom 250 Event
The UFC Freedom 250 was meant to celebrate both President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday and the upcoming 250th anniversary of America’s founding. The event boasted an attendance of roughly 4,300 spectators — including 1,200 active-duty service members.
Afterwards, Trump celebrated the success of this event.
“It was beyond anything that anybody’s ever seen in sports,” Trump said.
When asked about David’s comments, a White House spokesperson told Fox News, “This was one of the greatest and most historic sports events in history, and President Trump hosting it at the White House is a testament to his vision to celebrate America’s monumental 250th anniversary. Anyone who finds a problem with that clearly suffers from a severe and incurable disease known as Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
With their despicable attacks on America, all Behar and David are doing is showing what out of touch, ungrateful liberal elites they each really are.
Sorry, Joy and Larry, but we will never be embarrassed to be Americans!
