The former First Lady Jill Biden is speaking out this week to make some surprising claims about Barron Trump and his college life at New York University (NYU). This will likely not sit well with his mother Melania Trump, who has gone above and beyond to try and maintain Barron’s privacy.
Jill Makes Claims About Barron
Jill, 74, is currently promoting her new memoir “View from the East Wing,” which hit stores on Tuesday. In the book, Jill recalled riding in a limo with Melania as they headed to Donald Trump’s second presidential inauguration in January of 2025.
Jill wrote that joining them for this ride, which she described as being incredibly awkward, was Minnesota Democratic Senator Amy Klobuchar’s husband, John Bessler. The former First Lady claimed that he was given “arguably one of the trickiest assignments” in trying to ease the tension between herself and Melania following years of bad blood between the Bidens and the Trumps.
Jill described Bessler as being a “quiet, reserved Midwestern guy.” Despite this, he tried to make small talk by asking Melania basic questions about her son Barron, who is her only child.
When quizzed by Bessler, Melania simply said that Barron was attending NYU. According to Jill, Melania was “looking out the window, clearly about to point to the clouds as a way of segueing to a neutral topic.”
When asked where Barron lives, Melania replied that “he has a floor in Trump Tower.” When Bessler asked if Barron was “having fun,” Melania said that his life mainly revolves around his studies.
“He goes to school, attends class, and they bring him back. He doesn’t see many friends at school,” Melania stated, according to Jill.
Jill Doubles Down
When asked if Barron has “lots of friends,” Jill claimed, “Melania kept trying to switch the topic to the weather.”
“Yes, he has friends from high school,” Melania said before “noting how cold and windy it had been.”
“I tried to get with Melania’s weather-only program,” Jill continued. “I said I felt bad for the military dogs we passed along the route because of the cold.”
This prompted Bessler to ask Melania if she had a dog. Jill alleged that Melania responded by saying, “No, no, we never had a dog. I asked Barron several times, but he said no, he didn’t want a dog.”
Melania Protective Of Barron’s Privacy
Melania will undoubtedly be fuming over Jill writing about Barron’s private life in her book. Indeed, Melania is reportedly extremely protective of Barron. That’s why she’s tried to keep him out of the spotlight and give him as normal a life as possible.
“Melania’s main job is taking care of Barron,” an insider told People Magazine in March of 2024. “Barron is shy and reserved, and she has been a good mother to him all of these years. Melania is all about Barron and her family. She has always been family-oriented, and in addition to some of the charity work she has done, staying ahead of family issues is her priority.”
In December of that year, another source said that Melania is a sounding board” for Barron.
“Melania worries about the hate in the country and how it falls on her son, who is innocent of any of this,” this insider said. “They talk about life as it is and how they are in the spotlight. She tries to normalize his life. If that is even possible.”
Melania ‘Furious’ On Barron’s Behalf
In December of 2025, Melania was left “furious” when guests at her Mar-a-Lago club were caught secretly filming and taking photos of Barron. It’s reportedly an unwritten rule at the Palm Beach, Florida club that nobody is to film or photograph Barron.
“It’s very understood that guests don’t bother Barron or anyone around him,” a guest claimed at the time.
Melania reportedly wasted no time in taking action.
“Melania made it very clear that Barron’s privacy is non-negotiable,” a source alleged. “Anyone caught filming or taking pictures would face immediate consequences, including potential banning from the club.”
“The message was clear: no cameras, no leaks,” the insider concluded. “Private family moments stay private.”
While Melania has yet to comment on the claims Jill made about Barron, we’re sure that she must be livid about them. Shame on Jill for violating Barron’s privacy in her book in this manner. In the end, this just serves as yet another reminder of just how classless the Bidens really are.
