Last month, we reported that the former Friends star Jennifer Aniston had been targeted by an alleged stalker who was arrested at her Los Angeles mansion after crashing his car into her gates. Indeed, this terrifying ordeal reportedly rocked Aniston to her very core.
Now, Aniston is reportedly making a desperate move to feel “safe” again.
Aniston’s ‘Safe Place’
Aniston, 56, has reportedly completed renovations on the $15 million mansion that she bought last year in Montecito, California. The actress is allegedly planning to spend the next few months there, as she feels that it is much safer than the $21 million mansion that her stalker tried to break into.
Aniston’s current plan is to “chill out” at her Montecito mansion for the summer as she figures out what her next move will be.
“Jen is happy to have a safe place to run to where she can let her hair down,” a source recently told Daily Mail. “Though she loves Los Angeles because it is where she grew up, she is craving more of a country setting these days away from the noise.”
The Bel-Air mansion that Aniston has called home since 2011 is located in the middle of the city. It is also right on the street, meaning that just anyone can drive right up to her home’s gates. In contrast, Aniston’s Montecito mansion is much more secluded. She bought the home from Oprah Winfrey, and her famous neighbors include friends like Gwyneth Paltrow and Rob Lowe.
“Her pals like Jimmy Kimmel and Jason Bateman will visit and keep her company and help her make it a home for the summer,” the source added.
The insider went on to admit that last month’s stalker incident did a “number” on Aniston.
“She is flipped out,” the source explained. “It’s a bad feeling knowing someone wants to break into your sanctuary. It’s such a shame that happened.”

Aniston’s Stalker Ordeal
Aniston’s alleged stalker has been identified as Jimmy Wayne Carwyle, 48. He was arrested on May 5 after crashing his car into the gates of Aniston’s $21 million sprawling hilltop Bel-Air mansion. Aniston, 56, was home at the time. Luckily, her security team was able to apprehend Carwyle before he could get to her. They held him at gunpoint until police arrived to arrest him.
According to prosecutors, Carwyle “repeatedly” harassed Aniston between March 1, 2023 and May 5, 2025. During that time, he hounded her with “unwanted social media, voicemail, and email messages.”
In these messages, Carwyle allegedly described Aniston as his “bride” and his “true soulmate.”
Carwyle’s wife Julia later told The Mail that “he believes he was Jesus Christ and that she was supposed to be his queen.”
Carwyle reportedly made three trips from their home in Mississippi to California in the hopes of meeting Aniston.
“He went to California six months ago. He left in September and went and I haven’t seen him since he left, he was leaving that day to go,” Julia said. She added that her husband “was going there because he was going to meet up with Jennifer. He was going to go see her.”

Aniston’s Stalker Mentally Unfit To Stand Trial
Last week, Carwyle was declared mentally unfit to stand trial. An “interest of justice” hearing has since been scheduled for June 26. There, Aniston or her attorney Blair Berk will have the opportunity to give an impact statement. A judge will then be determined what should be done with Carwyle moving forward. For now, he remains in police custody.
Aniston has been one of the most famous women in the world for decades. While that comes with a lot of perks, this serves as a reminder that there are some terrifying downsides to that level of fame.
Aniston deserves to feel safe in her own home just as much as anyone else does. We can only hope that she is able to heal from this horrifying ordeal this summer at her more private home in Montecito.
