Jelly Roll is opening up about his weight loss journey, including the setbacks he suffered and his new goals for 2026.
Setback in Weight Loss
Jelly Roll has already shocked fans with his almost 300-pound weight loss; however, he has revealed a setback in his journey.
In an April 17th YouTube vlog, Jelly Roll shared, “This is where the game gets a little ugly. We hit the goal and it was right before the holidays. So, I was like, ‘You know what, man? I’ve been working hard for the last three years losing this weight. I’m going to enjoy the holidays.'”
In addition to indulging during Thanksgiving and Christmas, Jelly broke his collarbone in December.
Between the two, Jelly “kind of got off the rails,” and he shared, “Men’s Health was not the goal. It wasn’t the weight that I wanted to get to be at maintenance.” The singer believes he’s around 40 to 60 pounds away from that benchmark, but now he’s avoiding the scale.
“I haven’t weighed in,” Jelly Roll admitted. “I’ve been avoiding the scale. I’m afraid to see what the scale is going to say from what my actual goal is.” He added, “I’m scared too, y’all. I feel really fat. I feel really bloated. … I’m scared, but at least we’re here together. Got to start somewhere though, avoiding weighing in has been the problem.”
Turning the camera around to his scale, it revealed he currently weighs 276.2 pounds.
“That’s our reality right there. So we’re up 12 pounds.”
Broken Collarbone
Jelly Roll suffered a broken collarbone in December, and it set him back. He revealed the injury in March, saying the break occurred while riding an ATV.
“Y’all just took this thing out for the first time since I flipped it,” he explained in a March Instagram video. “I broke my collarbone. I was so scared to get back on this thing. I just knew if I didn’t get back on it sooner than later, I was just going to be more and more afraid of it.”
It also affected his workout routine. “…I had to quit running, quit walking, quit exercising for some extended period of time. I said all that to say that I have to some degree lost my way.”
However, he’s ready to get back in the saddle for both his ATV use and weight loss journey.
New Health Goals
Shedding the 12 pounds gained back is just one of Jelly Roll’s goals for this year. His other one? Run in the 2026 New York marathon in November, and then land a shirtless magazine cover photo.
He shared, “I want to get these last 40 or 50 pounds off and then I eventually want to cut my skin and I eventually want to be on the cover of something crazy like GQ or Rolling Stone or Vanity Fair or Forbes or Time with my shirt off. I know this is getting real silly now, but I don’t know. I just believe there’s this story that a guy can go from 560 pounds to a shirt off picture.”
Jelly Roll has already started the process and shared in a January interview with Men’s Health that he’s hired a chef and nutritionist to kickstart his goals. Ideally, he wants to lose between 30 and 50 pounds while training for the marathon, which includes intervals and walking with a weighted vest.
Jelly Roll said, “I ran 16 miles in one week, and my knees hurt. My hips hurt. My back hurt. My neck hurt. My head hurt. My toes hurt. There’s a bone in my foot I didn’t know existed hurts.” He added, “Ultimately, y’all, this is going to be quite a journey. So I think I’m going to do a better job at doc’ing this, because I haven’t done a great job at doc’ing my weight loss.”
