Jason Sudeikis has given a rare update on his love life. The actor admits he’s open to expanding his family – but only if he genuinely falls in love again.

The Ted Lasso star, 50, appeared on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast with hosts Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky and Kristin Batalucco. The conversation drifted from family dynamics to whether he’d ever want more children. Sudeikis didn’t hesitate, saying he’d “absolutely” consider it if the right relationship came along.

Sudeikis is already dad to two children – Otis, 12, and Daisy, nine – whom he shares with ex‑fiancée Olivia Wilde. The pair ended their long engagement in 2020. Sudeikis confirmed on the podcast that he’s currently single, describing solo life as a mix of “ups and downs.”

Dating Guidelines

He also made it clear that dating casually isn’t something he’s interested in, as it’s “overwhelming” while raising kids.

He said, “I like being in relation to people.”

Sudeikis explained that anyone he dates has to understand where they fit into his world. His children, he said, will always be “number one on the call sheet,” even above himself.

As he gets older, he’s become more aware of the need to take care of his own wellbeing too. “I’ve got to make sure my cup’s full for anyone else to get the overflow.”

Overcoming His Past Breakup

A year after his split from Wilde, Sudeikis admitted he was still trying to make sense of the breakup.

The actor, who later dated Keeley Hazell and was linked to model Elsie Hewitt in 2024, said in 2021 that understanding the end of the relationship would take time.

He said the experience would eventually shrink from a major chapter of his life into something far smaller, and that the only way forward was to learn from it rather than hide behind excuses.

The actor added that taking responsibility and finding meaning beyond the obvious was the only way to grow from something so painful.

Sudeikis told GQ, “I’ll have a better understanding of why in a year, and an even better one in two, and an even greater one in five, and it’ll go from being, you know, a book of my life to becoming a chapter to a paragraph to a line to a word to a doodle.”

“That’s an experience that you either learn from or make excuses about. You take some responsibility for it, hold yourself accountable for what you do, but then also endeavor to learn something beyond the obvious from it.”
