Hunter Biden, the son of the former President Joe Biden, as officially fled America. This comes as his legal troubles continue to escalate.
Hunter Flees America
Hunter’s attorney Barry Coburn revealed this in a court filing that was issued earlier this month. The filing was related to a civil lawsuit over unpaid legal fees.
“Mr. Biden lives abroad,” read the documents, which were obtained by Fox News. “He cannot pay his current lawyers.”
It’s unclear at this time where exactly Hunter, 56, is currently living. However, the son of the former president indicated late last year that he had been visiting Cape Town, South Africa. This is where his wife, Melissa Cohen Biden, is originally from.
“When all of the political and personal stuff came to an end in the last six months, I had always promised that we would spend some time over here,” Hunted said during a November appearance on The Wide Awake Podcast, based in South Africa. “We’re trying to be between Cape Town and the States, go back and forth.”
“I’ve fallen madly in love with Cape Town,” he continued. “You guys do not know how good you have it here. It’s the most beautiful city in the world.”
Hunter was most recently photographed with Joe and Jill Biden in Santa Ynez, California, over Easter weekend. These photos were posted to Instagram by Hunter’s half-sister Ashley Biden.
Hunter’s Legal Battles
The court document about Hunter’s current living situation was submitted in a Washington, D.C., civil court by Winston & Strawn LLP. This firm previously represented Hunter in a series of criminal cases over the years, including a felony gun trial in Delaware and a tax crimes prosecution in California.
The filing stated that Hunter has not paid a “substantial portion” of the fees owed to his legal team. Indeed, it seems that Hunter’s financial situation is so dire that he cannot afford to hire specialized professionals to assist with the lawsuit. The court filing cited instances in which Hunter manually “hand-searched” his own emails to locate relevant documents rather than relying on outside resources.
During his November podcast appearance, Hunter admitted that he is facing “$17 million in debt … as it relates to my legal fees.”
Hunter’s legal troubles have been well documented in recent years. In 2024, he was found guilty of multiple criminal offenses, including the illegal purchase of a firearm in 2018. This came after prosecutors proved that he lied on a federal form by stating he was not using illegal drugs at a time when he was struggling with a crack cocaine addiction.
Hunter also pleaded guilty to nine federal tax charges, including three felonies. These charges were in connection with a scheme to evade $1.4 million in taxes between 2016 and 2019.
If Hunter were the son of Donald Trump, his legal troubles would have been all over the news. Because he’s the son of a Democrat, however, the mainstream media swept this under the rug as much as possible. In the end, America is better off without Hunter in it.
Good riddance to you, Hunter Biden!
