The world was stunned when the two-time Oscar-winning star Gene Hackman, 95, was found dead last month along with his 65 year-old wife Betsy Arakawa.

Now, some chilling body camera footage has been released from police investigating their deaths. In the video, it’s revealed that Arakawa was terrified about being followed by a mystery man multiple times in the months before her passing.

Arakawa Feared Being Followed

In body camera footage obtained by Fox News, Arakawa’s hairstylist revealed that she was “frazzled” after being followed on two separate occasions in December by a man she had never seen before. This ultimately ended up being just two months before she was found dead with Hackman.

Was she really being followed, or just imagining things? If she was being followed, then this whole scenario just got a lot more confusing.

“She mentioned to me that there was a man that had parked outside of their gate and followed them,” her hairstylist told police. “On two separate occasions. One occasion is when they went to White Rock. They went and had lunch there and the guy followed them from parked [outside of their gated community], followed them all the way to White Rock.”

“She said, ‘Christopher, I’m surprised that security didn’t [know] how he got there…  because when we left, I noticed that this car had followed us from the residence to White Rock,” he continued.

Christopher went on to allege that Arakawa told him that the mysterious man “pulled out a folder of photos of her husband and wanted him to sign them.”

“And I said, we were sitting here and I said, ‘That’s so weird because Santa Fe’s not a place of paparazzi and stuff,'” Christopher recounted. “She said… she approached him and said, ‘I told him he needed to have more respect.’”

Strange. Was it just an otherwise-innocent admirer? Or something more along the lines of a stalker?

Arakawa And Hackman Get Followed Again

On a separate occasion that same month, the strange man followed the couple to a different location. He proceeded to offer them a bottle of wine. Hackman and Arakawa, however, refused to accept it.

“I said, ‘Oh my gosh, Betsy, that’s crazy. You should not have approached this person. This makes me nervous,'” Christopher recalled. “He knew what [they] drove. That’s the scary part.”

This comes as Hackman’s estate is fighting to stop both the medical investigator and the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office from releasing body camera footage and autopsy results. One insider told The Sun that it’s “highly unusual” for a family to do this.

“Trying to block the autopsy report is very atypical, that is not something I have ever seen before,” the source alleged.

Arakawa And Hackman Found Dead

The bodies of Arakawa and Hackman were found on February 26. Their remains were mummified, as they had all been dead for quite some time.

Arakawa died of Hantavirus, a rare flu-like virus often transmitted through rodent droppings. She likely passed away on February 12, which was when she made her last phone call.

Until this phone call came to light, officials had believed that Arakawa died on February 11.

Hackman was then in the mansion alone with her body for several days before succumbing to heart failure.

Hackman and Arakwa had been married since 1991. While they had no children together, Hackman had three children from a previous marriage. Each of them survive him.

The more information comes to light about these deaths, the stranger this case gets. We can only hope that regardless of what really happened to Hackman and Arakawa, that the truth comes out!
