The world was stunned when the two-time Oscar-winning star Gene Hackman, 95, was found dead last month along with his 65 year-old wife Betsy Arakawa. Sadly, one of their three dogs was found dead with them.

Now, the mystery into how these deaths could have happened has deepened in a big way. Indeed, Hackman’s family has made the “highly unusual” move of blocking the release of the autopsy results.

Hackman’s Family Want To Block Autopsy Release

Hackman’s family is reportedly trying to ensure that both the autopsy report and the death investigation report will never be made public. One insider close to the investigation told The Sun that in their entire career, they’ve never heard of a family attempting to block the release of autopsy results in the state of New Mexico.

“Trying to block the autopsy report is very atypical, that is not something I have ever seen before,” the source alleged. “New Mexico doesn’t have an exemption for autopsy photos, and normally it’s not a concern, but when it comes to celebrity deaths, a lot of people will request them.”

“So it’s common where family members of celebrities would use the New Mexico courts to block release of photos specifically,” the insider continued. “As with the Hackmans, Michael Jackson’s family blocked Tito Jackson’s autopsy photos, and with the Alec Baldwin shooting of Halyna Hutchins, her family did the same. However, blocking the actual autopsy report, again, is highly unusual.”

The move to block the release of the autopsy report comes after Hackman’s estate successfully blocked the release of any images, which in our opinion, only a ghoul would want anyway.

The report is another story, as Hackman has tens of millions of adoring fans who just want to know what really happened to him and his family.

Hackman And Arakawa Found Dead

The bodies of Hackman, Arakawa, and their dog Zinna were found on February 26. Their remains were mummified, as they had all been dead for quite some time.

Arakawa died of Hantavirus, a rare flu-like virus transmitted through rodent droppings. She likely passed away on February 12, which was when she made her last phone call.

Until this phone call came to light, officials had believed that Arakawa died on February 11. This is when she was last seen on surveillance footage driving back into her gated community.

Hackman’s Difficult Final Days

Hackman was then in the mansion alone with her body for several days before succumbing to heart failure. It is likely that he died on February 18. Hackman had advanced Alzheimer’s at the time of his death. This means that he likely was either unaware or unable to understand that Arakawa had passed away.

As for Zinna, she was found locked in a crate near Arakawa’s body. She died of dehydration and starvation.

Hackman and Arakawa had no children together. He had three children from a previous marriage. It appears that they’re the ones blocking the release of the autopsy results. While they certainly deserve privacy, it’s nothing short of strange that they don’t want the autopsy results to be released to the public. Only time will tell if they succeed in blocking the release of this report.
