The country music star Garth Brooks could not help but burst into tears as his wife Trisha Yearwood received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday. It was a very touching moment!

Brooks Cries As Yearwood Is Honored

During the ceremony, Yearwood’s fellow country music stars Reba McEntire and Carly Pearce gave wonderful speeches honoring her. While Brooks, 63, didn’t speak at the ceremony, he sat by Yearwood’s side for its entirety. Indeed, he was seen wiping away tears multiple times as the speeches praising his beloved wife were made.

When Yearwood, 60, took the podium, she dedicated a portion of her speech to Brooks. She began by saying that she”s had “a lot of Garths in my life” but “the first Garth that I met is here.”

Referring to Brooks, Yearwood went on to say, “That one has really been a cheerleader and as many accolades and awards as he has won, I never see him get more excited than he does when I receive something.”

“For all the people that want this for me, nobody wants it more than you,” she concluded. “I appreciate you for being my support.”

Yearwood Gushes Over Brooks

Yearwood gushed over Brooks after the ceremony.

“He’s my person… He has accomplished so much in his career, but he is happiest when other people win,” Yearwood told Extra of Brooks. “And I think he just believes in me so much and he believes that I deserve more than I believe I deserve, so I know that he’s genuinely the happiest person here today.”

Watch Yearwood talk more about her love for Brooks in the video below.

In October of last year, Brooks praised Yearwood after she was given the ACM Honors Icon Award.

“I was just so proud. I’m always proud of her, but to see and hear her recognized like that – and to hear people use the word ‘icon’ in the same breath as her name – just took me someplace new,” Brooks said at the time.

“She is an icon,” he added. “I know what a world-class talent and force she is…and we all know what an incredible vocalist she is…but I love it when others really take notice, too.”

Brooks And Yearwood’s History

Brooks and Yearwood met back in 1987 during a demo-recording session. At the time, each of them were unsigned artists struggling to make it big in Nashville, Tennessee.

“We hit it off,” Yearwood later recalled. “But I had no idea he would turn out to be Garth Brooks!”

Brooks promised Yearwood that she could open his shows for him if he ever got a record deal. Sure enough, Brooks kept his word. For the next thirteen years, Brooks and Yearwood were frequent collaborators and best friends. They often shared the stage with one another, and they even appeared on each other’s albums.

In 2001, Brooks divorced his first wife Sandy Mahl, who had been his high school sweetheart. He soon began dating Yearwood, and they married in 2005.

“All I can say is that I am so happy,” Yearwood said at the time. “What I’m feeling right now, I would wish on anyone.”

The rest, as they say, is history, and they’ve been together ever since!

In the entertainment world, it’s rare to see a marriage stand the test of time. That’s why it’s so touching to see the love that Brooks and Yearwood have for one another. We’d like to wish them many years of happiness to come!
