Back in November, we reported that the comedian Ellen DeGeneres had fled America. She then moved across the world to the United Kingdom. DeGeneres has since been laying low in England with her actress wife Portia de Rossi of Arrested Development fame.
Unfortunately for DeGeneres, however, her past had just come back to haunt her. Indeed, if she thought that she could get away from her problematic history just by fleeing America, she just learned the hard way that she was dead wrong!
DeGeneres’ Past Comes Back To Haunt Her
The comedian Adam Carolla spoke out on Tuesday to make a series of damning allegations against DeGeneres. While talking to the conservative commentator Emily Jashinsky, Carolla, 61, claimed that staffers on The Ellen DeGeneres Show “were scared, real scared” of DeGeneres, 67.
Carolla began by recounting an experience that he had when he was a guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show back in 2012.
“I knew they were scared because it’s like, I was just sitting in the my dressing room and their like segment producer came in, and he went, ‘All right, so we went over all the stuff we’re going to talk about,’ you know, Christmas vacation or whatever it was,” Carolla recalled. “And I go, ‘Yeah, yeah.'”
“He goes, ‘You’re not going to talk about meat or beef or anything like that, right?'” he continued. “And I go, ‘No, I’m not. I’m just going to talk about the stuff we talked about’ – going on vacation at Christmas or the kids or you know, their anecdotes.”
DeGeneres was a devout vegan at the time. However, she has since abandoned this lifestyle.
“‘Okay. All right. Okay. All right,'” Carolla remembers the staffer saying. “And he like came back like 20 minutes later right before I went out, and he’s like, ‘Okay, but don’t talk about beef or meat or any[thing].’ I was like, ‘Oh, this guy’s scared to death.'”
Carolla Doubles Down
Not stopping there, Carolla went on to bring up another negative story about DeGeneres.
“Later on, I talked to someone who signed an NDA, so I won’t say his name, but he wrote for Ellen,” Carolla explained.
“I just went, ‘How’s Ellen?'” the comedian recounted. “And uh, he said, ‘Worst person, uh, worst person. Not worst person I’ve worked for. Worst person I’ve ever met.'”
As for what Carolla thinks about DeGeneres himself, he said that “she’s not a nice person at all.”
Carolla concluded by saying that he’s glad that the public now “knows what [he] knew 15 years ago.”

DeGeneres’ Toxic Workplace Scandal
For decades, DeGeneres was known as “The Queen of Nice.” She even ended every episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show by telling her viewers to “be kind to one another.”
That all changed in 2020, when DeGeneres was accused of presiding over a workplace at her talk show that was full of racism, sexism, and bullying. It was even alleged that her own staffers were told to never make eye contact with DeGeneres.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show went off the air in 2022. In the years since then, DeGeneres has lamented that she was “kicked out of show business” for being “mean.”
“The hate went on for a long time and I would try to avoid looking at the news,” DeGeneres said last year. “The ‘be kind’ girl wasn’t kind. That was the headline.”

DeGeneres Flees America To Escape ‘Hate’
This is partly why DeGeneres decided to flee America and move to England.
“Ellen really felt she had made her mark on the industry, but that was diminished when she was cancelled over her alleged treatment of her staff,” a source told Daily Mail back in November. “Then to have celebrities call her out one by one was so hurtful.”
The insider went on to say that the “all the ill will towards” DeGeneres in America partly led to her decision to leave the country.
“She has the one person that still loves her, Portia, and she is ready to leave everyone who in her mind left her hanging out to dry. If she considers it her retirement, so be it,” the source continued. “An enormous part of the US doesn’t like her because of her sexual preferences, and others were turned off by her persona, which some perceived to be fake in the wake of the work place allegations.”
“For Ellen, it’s easier to move away from her problems than to confront them,” the insider concluded. “It seems like a sad end to what she once was in people’s minds.”
DeGeneres was clearly hope that the negative image she’s earned for herself in the states wouldn’t follow her abroad. That’s why she’s undoubtedly not happy that a major comedian like Carolla is reminding the world about the past claims that have been made against her.
It certainly doesn’t seem like DeGeneres will be coming back to America anytime soon. In the end, she’s England’s problem now.
Good riddance!
