Earlier this month, we reported that Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi had allegedly backtracked on fleeing America for England and were plotting a return to the U.S. This came months after they fled the country due to the second presidential victory of Donald Trump.

Back in September, we reported that a woman was suing DeGeneres, accusing the comedian of both t-boning her and running a stop sign. Now, things have gotten even worse for DeGeneres, as this woman is demanding a jury trial.

DeGeneres Hit With Lawsuit

The anonymous woman is suing DeGeneres, 67, for negligence, according to documents obtained by People Magazine. She claims that on October 16, 2023, DeGeneres ignored a stop sign while driving in Santa Barbara County. The plaintiff alleges that DeGeneres then “t-boned” her car as a result.

The woman waited until September of this year to file this lawsuit. However, she claims that she suffered “multiple serious personal injuries and damages” from the alleged collision.

On December 15, the woman issued a new court filing. In it, she requested a jury trial for this case. This filing has also revealed that a mediation occurred on December 9. However, it added that DeGeneres has not been served because she “resides overseas.”

The documents went on to state that The Hague Convention Service will be initiated. This will allow the complaint to be delivered to DeGeneres’ current home in rural England.

According to the new filing, the woman “sustained serious injuries and incurred significant income/business loss” from this collision.

In her initial filing, the woman claimed that she on that fateful day in October of 2023, she “made sure there were no other vehicles” present before driving forward. That’s when she alleges that DeGeneres “suddenly and without any warning” collided into her vehicle.

“Ellen DeGeneres entered the intersection without stopping at the stop sign,” the filing states.

According to the plaintiff, DeGeneres exhibited “negligent conduct [that] fell below the standard of care of a reasonable person.” The complaint goes on to accuse DeGeneres of having “negligently caused, or contributed to causing plaintiff’s vehicle to be collided with by the defendants’ vehicle.”

On top of the alleged injuries and income loss, the plaintiff claims to have experienced “loss of enjoyment of life, emotional distress and anxiety.”

DeGeneres Comes Crawling Back To America

Dealing with this court case is certainly not the return to America that DeGeneres was hoping for. Indeed, insiders are alleging that DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi are desperate to return to sunny California, as they are dreading spending another frigid winter in England.

“Ellen was adamant that she and Portia were going to stay in the UK while Trump was in the White House, but evidently she’s changed her mind somewhat,” an insider told Daily Mail earlier this month.

“She’s been telling friends they are coming home soon because they miss them and can’t take the winters over there, and Portia wants to act again,” the source continued. “They will be here for the holidays and longer by the sound of it.”

“Ellen was very clear that they’re coming back to California sooner rather than later,” the insider concluded. “They miss the warm weather and their friends.”

At the time of this writing, there’s still only a non-jury trial scheduled in this lawsuit against DeGeneres. However, a judge could still grand the plaintiffs request for a trial.

Should this case go to trial, that would be quite the nightmarish return to America for DeGeneres. Only time will tell how this turns out for her!
