In November of last year, we reported that the comedian Ellen DeGeneres had fled America. She then moved across the world to the United Kingdom. DeGeneres has since been laying low in England with her actress wife Portia de Rossi of Arrested Development fame.

DeGeneres had claimed that she was leaving America because Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election against Kamala Harris. Now, however, DeGeneres is backtracking big time. Indeed, DeGeneres and de Rossi are now allegedly preparing to return to California despite the fact that Trump is still in office.

That didn’t take long!

DeGeneres Comes Crawling Back

After Trump won the election, DeGeneres insisted that she and de Rossi would be “staying” in England, at least through his presidency. Indeed, she claimed that life was “just better” in the United Kingdom.

One year later, however, DeGeneres, 67, has been telling friends that she and de Rossi, 52, are desperate to return to sunny California because they “miss their friends.” They are also dreading the idea of going through another dreary British winter.

“Ellen was adamant that she and Portia were going to stay in the UK while Trump was in the White House, but evidently she’s changed her mind somewhat,” an insider told Daily Mail.

“She’s been telling friends they are coming home soon because they miss them and can’t take the winters over there, and Portia wants to act again,” the source continued. “They will be here for the holidays and longer by the sound of it.”

“Ellen was very clear that they’re coming back to California sooner rather than later,” the insider concluded. “They miss the warm weather and their friends.”

DeGeneres’ Previous Comments

This is in stark contrast to what DeGeneres was saying back in July. When asked by a reporter if she’d moved to the U.K. because of Trump, Degeneres immediately replied “Yes.” She went on to explain that she and de Rossi had initially bought what they thought would be “a part-time house” that would allow them to spend three to four months in the U.K. However, that all changed when Trump won.

“We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, ‘He got in,'” DeGeneres said. “And we’re like, ‘We’re staying here.'”

Not stopping there, DeGeneres then claimed that they were loving their new life in rural England.

“It’s absolutely beautiful,” she alleged. “We’re just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture – everything you see is charming and it’s just a simpler way of life.

“It’s clean,” DeGeneres added. “Everything here is just better – the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here.”

Oh, how times have changed, right Ellen?

Clearly, life outside of America wasn’t exactly what a wealthy liberal elite like DeGeneres thought it would be. Perhaps now that she’s come crawling back here, DeGeneres will be a little more appreciative of everything that America has to offer. And sorry, Ellen, but we can’t say that you were missed here in the states.

Good riddance, Ellen DeGeneres!
