Back in November, we reported that the comedian Ellen DeGeneres had fled America. She then moved across the world to the United Kingdom. DeGeneres has since been laying low in England with her actress wife Portia de Rossi of Arrested Development fame.
Now, DeGeneres’ move to England has taken a nasty turn. Indeed, she’s been hit with a new lawsuit accusing her of both t-boning another driver and running a stop sign.
DeGeneres Hit With New Lawsuit
DeGeneres, 67, is being accused of causing a 2023 collision in California. In court documents obtained by People Magazine, a woman is alleging that this incident occurred on October 16, 2023. According to the lawsuit, DeGeneres ignored a stop sign while driving in Santa Barbara County. As a result of this, DeGeneres allegedly “t-boned” the woman’s car.
The lawsuit states that the “intersection [where the incident occurred] is controlled by stop signs in all directions.”
The woman filing the lawsuit claims that she stopped for her stop sign and “made sure there were no other vehicles” present before she drove forward. It was then that DeGeneres allegedly “suddenly and without any warning” collided into her vehicle and “t-boned” her. This resulted in the plaintiff becoming injured.
“Ellen DeGeneres entered the intersection without stopping at the stop sign,” the lawsuit states.
DeGeneres Accused Of ‘Negligent Conduct’
Not stopping there, the lawsuit goes on to accuse DeGeneres of exhibiting “negligent conduct [that] fell below the standard of care of a reasonable person.” It then claimed that DeGeneres “negligently caused, or contributed to causing plaintiff’s vehicle to be collided with by the defendants’ vehicle.”
The woman who filed the lawsuit alleges that she sustained “multiple serious personal injuries and damages” as a result of this incident. She claims to have suffered wage loss and accrued hospital and medical expenses, among other costs. The woman additionally claims to have been left with a “loss of enjoyment of life, emotional distress and anxiety.”
DeGeneres is being sued by this woman for general negligence. The woman is seeking an undisclosed amount of compensatory damages.
DeGeneres’ Wife Feels ‘Suffocated’ In England
This comes at a difficult time for DeGeneres. We reported last week that DeGeneres’ wife de Rossi, 52, allegedly isn’t enjoying their new life in England.
Sources are telling Yahoo News that de Rossi feels “like every aspect of her life is micromanaged” in England.
“If she wants to go for a horse ride, a jog, even a trip to the shops, it’ll be met with a dozen questions,” one insider alleged. “Ellen hates going anywhere by herself so Portia’s always on the hook to be by her side.”
DeGeneres and de Rossi have settled in a rural celebrity hotspot that is known as the Cotswolds. Months later, however, it seems that de Rossi is having some serious regrets about ditching her glamorous life in sunny California for the gloomy weather of England. Indeed, it seems that DeGeneres isn’t helping de Rossi’s mood with the way that she’s allegedly been behaving.
“Portia feels totally suffocated much of the time,” the source concluded. “She loves Ellen dearly but she’s insisting on some breathing room. She can’t go on like this.”
This new lawsuit will certainly do nothing to help DeGeneres adjust to her new life abroad. Only time will tell how this all turns out for Ellen DeGeneres!
