Willie and Korie Robertson of Duck Dynasty fame are speaking out this week to reveal the secret behind their decades-long marriage.

Willie, 53, and Korie, 51, have been together for 40 years and been married for 33. In a new interview, they’re opening up about how they’ve stayed together for so many years.

Willie And Korie’s Long-Lasting Marriage

“I’ve always said … Try to give more than you take,” Willie told Fox News. “Especially in marriage … trying not to take, you know? … I got to… give more than I’m putting in. And there’s times where you’re obviously going to need to take… but that’s kind of a mindset I’ve always had.”

Korie chimed in to say that she believes that the key to a successful marriage is showing up every single day.

“We work hard on our relationship. We turn back in,” she explained. “I think there are times in 33 years of marriage and whatever marriage, you’re going to start drifting apart if you’re not careful… we always are just really careful to turn back to one another.”

Willie And Korie’s Shared Christian Faith

Korie went on to say that it’s her and Willie’s intentional reconnection that keeps them together through the ups and downs of life. She added that their shared strong Christian faith has also played a huge role in their long-lasting union.

“Our faith has been a huge part of that, in our commitment to God. It fuels our commitment to one another,” she continued. “When the going gets tough … stay in there. Commit to one another and your family. It’s so worth it.”

“We can look back and be like, ‘God, thank you for all the things you brought us through,’ because you brought us right here,” Korie stated. “It didn’t come with this perfect trajectory — there’s lots of ups and downs. But stay in there.”

Korie then stressed that having fun throughout the journey of life is another thing that keeps the spark alive in her marriage. She believes that the fun that she and Willie have on a daily basis is evident in their family’s new reality show Duck Dynasty: The Revival.

“We have a lotta fun together,” Korie confessed. “As you see on the last episode.”

Phil Robertson’s Death

This comes after a difficult few months for Willie and Korie. Indeed, Willie’s father Phil Robertson passed away on May 25 at the age of 79 after a grueling battle with Alzheimer’s disease. In the weeks since then, Willie and Korie have been trying to keep Phil’s legacy alive.

“Just in passing down that legacy — one of the things that we’ve just been reminded of over and over again is just this man who lived down on the river, didn’t own a cell phone or a computer — what God did with his life,” Korie said. “Because he was just truly passionately sold out for Jesus.”

“And so, I think for all of us, it’s brought even more of a boldness to our faith to say like, ‘Hey, we follow Jesus, and that’s who we are,'” she continued. “And if you want to know more about it, come talk to us because it’s brought a full life.”

Willie was quick to agree with his wife on this.

“And a changed life,” Willie concluded. “There would never have been a Duck Dynasty show. There wouldn’t have been company had his life not changed. This family would not have stayed together.”
