It’s been two months since the music mogul and rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, 55, was arrested for human trafficking and racketeering. Diddy was denied bail and remanded to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. He remains there to this day.

Diddy Gets Bad News From Judge

On Friday, Diddy appeared in court with his lawyers to request that the 55 year-old music mogul be placed under house arrest on a private island while he awaits his trial, which is set to begin on May 5. Indeed, Diddy’s legal team asked that he be detained at his house on Star Island in Florida.

There is only one way off the island, and that is by boat. Diddy’s attorneys argued that the rapper would not have access to any boats if he is placed on house arrest there.

Unfortunately for Diddy, however, the judge wasn’t having any of it.

“That is not going to work,” said U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian.

Diddy’s Lawyers Issue Alternative Solution

Undeterred, Diddy’s lawyers then presented an alternative solution in which he would be under house arrest at his Upper East Side apartment. They claimed that there would be 24/7 security with two guards in the three-bedroom property. The lawyers also said that an additional guard would be stationed downstairs at the apartment.

The attorneys went on to say that Diddy would have no access to phones or the internet, aside from when he is contacting his legal team. The lawyers alleged that this arrangement would be “substantially more restrictive” than the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center,

On top of that, Diddy would not be allowed any visitors besides his lawyers. Family visits can be arranged in advance with pre-trial approval, but they would be supervised by security.

“There’s nothing he’ll be able to do to temper with witnesses,” Diddy’s defense said. They added that there is a  “0% chance” Diddy would be violent to someone else while out on bail.

This Is Diddy’s Fourth Bail Request

The judge is expected to issue a ruling on this sometime this week. Diddy has been denied bail three times since his September arrest, as it’s feared that he poses a major flight risk. It remains to be seen if the fourth time is the charm for him.

“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” Diddy’s lawyer Marc Agnifilo said after a previous bail request was denied. “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children and working to uplift the Black community. He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal.”

This comes after federal agents raided Diddy’s mansions in Miami and Los Angeles back in March. They seized hundreds of sex videos and tons of sex paraphernalia, including 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lube. The U.S. Attorney’s Office then claimed that Diddy has hosted sex parties for years. These events allegedly were oftentimes not always consensual for everyone involved.

Diddy was arrested on September 16 and charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. If convicted, he is facing a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of life in prison. Diddy has pled not guilty to all of the charges against him.
