Earlier this week, we reported that Sean “Diddy” Combs was accusing prosecutors of “outrageous conduct” after they allegedly raided his jail cell. Now, Diddy has gotten some good news, as a federal judge has ruled in his favor over the matter.

Judge Gives Diddy Good News

Judge Arun Subramanian ruled that he will not consider any evidence that prosecutors obtained when they raided Diddy’s cell. The judge also ordered prosecutors to destroy its copies of the 19 pages of notes obtained after the sweep.

Diddy, 55, appeared in court on Tuesday, and he was noticeably more relaxed than usual. Though he didn’t have shackles, Diddy wore a khaki jumpsuit. Diddy hugged his lawyers after the ruling came in.

This hearing was called after Diddy’s lawyers claimed that his attorney-client privilege rights had been violated when various items were seized from his cell. His attorneys described the raid as “outrageous government conduct” and a “due process violation.”

Diddy’s lawyers claimed that prosecutors seized personal notes that the music mogul had written to his legal team concerning defense strategies.

“When we visit him in jail, we have lists,” Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo told Judge Subramanian on Tuesday. “Everything in these pads are things we discuss. Trial strategy, who we should speak to, to undermine a witness’ credibility. We discuss everything with Mr. Combs.”

Prosecutors Fire Back

Prosecutors fired back by claiming that the sweep was preplanned at the facility before Diddy was even arrested. They added that most of the items that were taken were not legally privileged. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Slavik argued that the bulk of the notes that were seized were related to personal matters like birthdays and “inspirational quotes.”

Prosecutors also claimed that the notes were first vetted by a “Filter Team” before they were given to the legal team prosecuting Diddy. Clearly, the judge wasn’t having any of it, as he ruled in Diddy’s favor.

This comes after federal agents raided Diddy’s mansions in Miami and Los Angeles back in March. They allegedly seized hundreds of raunchy videos and tons of sex paraphernalia, including 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lube. The U.S. Attorney’s Office then claimed that Diddy has hosted sex parties for years. These events allegedly were not always consensual for everyone involved.

Diddy’s Arrest

Diddy was arrested on September 16 and charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Due to the seriousness of the charges against him, Diddy has been remanded without bail. In fact, Diddy has been denied bail twice by two different judges, with each of them citing witness tampering concerns. He remains at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York to this day.

Larry Levine, the director and founder of Wall Street Prison Consultants, recently told Daily Mail that Diddy is living a “sad” and “lonely” existence in jail. He added that Diddy is getting daily visits from the psych team at the prison “to make sure that he’s okay” even though he is “not really on suicide watch.”

Levine explained that Diddy has “somebody from the psychology department coming out to visit with him, so it’s like a game that they play with the inmates. Remember, he’s not playing chess. He’s in a cell by himself.”

If convicted, Diddy is facing a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of life in prison. He has pled not guilty to all of the charges against him. Diddy’s trial has been set to start on May 5.
