Last month, the music mogul and rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, 54, was arrested and charged with human trafficking and racketeering.
On Tuesday, Diddy broke his silence to post to social media from jail for the first time since his arrest.
Diddy Posts From Prison
In a somewhat sad and tragic post, Diddy didn’t address his massive criminal case. Instead, he used the opportunity to wish his baby daughter a happy birthday.
Diddy took to Instagram on Tuesday to wish his 2 year-old daughter Love a happy birthday. He shares Love with the cyber security specialist Dana Tran. Diddy wrote out the lyrics to the song “Happy Birthday” alongside photos of Love digging into a birthday cake.
“Happy Birthday to you!” he wrote. “Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday baby Love, happy birthday to you!!”
Diddy concluded his post by writing, “Happy Birthday @loveseancombs daddy loves you.”
A birthday post on Love’s own Instagram page, which is run by her mother, boasted of the many things that the two year-old can do.
“2 Years of Life and Love,” the post read. “I can sing my ABC’s & Count to 50….I ask ‘what chu doing’ to everyone I know…I like to dance, cook, and sing….I look for bugs and animals when I play outside.”
The post continued, “I get happy when I eat yummy food…I LOVE my Family! I am Kind, I am Brave, I am Smart, I AM LOVE.”
The entire situation becomes sadder by the day.
Few details are known about Tran and her life. She mainly only surfaces online when she is with Love.
Diddy’s Arrest
Diddy was arrested on September 16, and he has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn ever since. Due to the seriousness of the charges against him, Diddy has been denied bail.
If convicted on all charges, Diddy is facing a minimum of 15 years and a maximum of life in prison. His trial date has been set for May 5.
One day before his birthday post to Love, Diddy was hit with six new lawsuits from a group of accusers consisting of two women and four men. One of the male accusers claims that he was just 16 years-old when he was assaulted.
Diddy Claims He’s Innocent
Diddy has claimed that he is innocent of all the charges and allegations that he’s facing. When asked at the end of last month if Diddy would take a plea deal, his attorney Marc Agnifilo said, “It’s not up to me. It’s up to Mr. Combs, and I don’t see it happening because he believes he’s innocent.”
“And what’s more, he believes that he needs to stand up not just for himself — for his family and for everybody who’s been targeted by the federal government,” Agnifilo continued.
“He feels an obligation to those people to say, ‘You know what, maybe I can break the model. Maybe I can show the world that a Black man can win in federal court,'” the attorney added.
Diddy has been an A-list star for decades, and he has many hugely famous celebrity friends. It will certainly be interesting to see if any big names are implicated in Diddy’s case in the months to come.
