Chilling New Body Cam Footage Released From Outside Gene Hackman’s Home – ‘Knew Something Was Wrong…’

Chilling new body camera footage has been released showing deputies outside the Santa Fe mansion of Gene Hackman on the day he was found deceased.

The only footage that has been released comes from outside the couple’s home – due to a judge granting a temporary block of body camera footage from inside the mansion, including footage of the deceased. An upcoming hearing has been scheduled to determine if that footage should be permanently blocked from release.

The new footage that has been released shows that the deputies were very concerned about the couple’s privacy when they arrived at the home.

“Because of who they are … I just want to keep this limited as much as possible, because once this gets out, you know how this is going to turn,” one deputy said in the video.

Another deputy can be heard talking on the phone to one of Hackman’s daughters. Though he and Arakawa had no children together, he was the father of three adult children from a previous marriage.

“A lot of the information that we do at the sheriff’s office is, unfortunately, public information, and it doesn’t take them very long to figure out where this was at, the address,” the deputy told Hackman’s daughter. “Once we start getting the media attention and all that stuff, people start wondering what’s going on. I don’t want anybody here that’s not supposed to be here.”

Hackman Groundskeeper ‘Knew Something Was Wrong’

Hackman and Arakawa’s two dogs Bear and Nikita could be seen roaming the grounds in the footage. Sadly, their third dog Zinna was found dead in a crate located near Arakawa’s body. Thankfully, Bear and Nikita have each since been re-homed.

At another point in the body camera footage, a groundskeeper told the deputies that he had decided to perform a welfare check on that day because he had not heard from Arakawa for weeks.

“I knew something was wrong because she don’t totally cut off … communications for that long,” he said.

Hackman And Arakawa Found

The bodies of Arakawa and Hackman were found on February 26.

Arakawa died of Hantavirus, a rare flu-like virus often transmitted through rodent droppings. She likely passed away on February 12, which was when she made her last phone call.

Until this phone call came to light, officials had believed that Arakawa died on February 11.

Hackman was then in the mansion alone with her body for several days before succumbing to heart failure. The actor was also suffering from advanced Alzheimer’s disease. This means he may have been unaware or unable to understand that his wife had died.

Hackman and Arakawa had been married since 1991, and they were extremely devoted to one another. Please join us in saying a prayer for their loved ones during this tragic time.
