Carrie Underwood has been one of the most famous country music stars in the world for over 20 years now. Despite this, she enjoys a quieter life when she isn’t performing.

Indeed, when she has downtime, Underwood can typically be found on her farm located outside of Nashville, Tennessee. There, Underwood practices homesteading with her former NHL star husband Mike Fisher and their two young sons.

Underwood has also long been known as one of the only unapologetically open Christians in the entertainment world. She recently showcased her love for both her farm life and her Christian faith when she took to Instagram to issue a powerful warning about “the devil.”

Underwood Warns Of ‘The Devil’

“I went down to the orchard to feed Sugar and the sheep and thought I’d check to see if the pink lemonade blueberries were almost ready,” began Underwood, 42. “Turns out, some were ready to be picked! What joy! I was on the next-to-last bush when I thought I’d pray. I love praying out loud in the orchard…it’s so beautiful and peaceful…”

“I was about 15 seconds into my chat when I was surprised by a snake in the blueberry bush. Just a rat snake…nothing dangerous,” she continued. “But he was there…JUST as I began to pray. It obviously made me think…about God…about the devil.”

This caused Underwood to reflect on the devil in a big way.

“The devil is always there…watching…lurking…even when we feel at our closest with God,” Underwood explained. “Being a Christian isn’t a free ticket out of trouble. The world is full of evil…BUT God is with us. The snake and I kept our eyes on each other…but I got what I came for, finished my prayer and went about my morning…having faith that Mr. Snakey and the devil will both be moving along…out of my orchard and out of my way! Hope you all have a great weekend!”

Underwood Gets Emotional On American Idol

Earlier this year, Underwood couldn’t help but become emotional as she opened up about “how difficult it is” to be a Christian in the entertainment industry. This came during her time serving as a judge on American Idol, the show that she won herself back in 2005.

Underwood fought back tears after contestants Breanna Nix and Rylie O’Neill performed a cover of Christian worship singer Brandon Lake’s song “Gratitude.” She then revealed why their performance meant so much to her.

“I know how difficult it is to come into the entertainment industry and bring your faith with you. It is a brave thing to do because there are a lot of outside forces that are going to tell you not to do that,” she said as her fellow judge Lionel Richie rubbed her back. “I want to tell you that I’m proud of you guys.”
