The country music star Carrie Underwood (and Mix fan favorite!) has announced that she will be performing at the inauguration of Donald Trump on January 20.
Underwood To Perform At Trump Inauguration
Next Monday, Underwood will be singing “America The Beautiful” at the US Capitol in Washington D.C. During her performance, Underwood will be joined by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club.
Underwood, 41, is set to take the stage after JD Vance, 40, is administered the Vice Presidential Oath of Office. She will be performing before Trump, 78, is given the Presidential Oath of Office.
During Trump’s first inauguration in 2017, the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square sang “America the Beautiful.” Lee Greenwood, Toby Keith, 3 Doors Down, The Piano Guys, DJ Ravidrums, and The Frontmen of Country all performed at his pre-inauguration concert that same year.
Underwood has long made it a point to stay out of politics.
“I try to stay far out of politics if possible, at least in public, because nobody wins,” Underwood told The Guardian in 2019.
“It’s crazy,” she added. “Everybody tries to sum everything up and put a bow on it, like it’s black and white. And it’s not like that.”
Underwood went on to say that she feels “like more people try to pin me places politically.”
At the same time, if the President of the United States of America wants you to sing, who could say no?

Underwood Returns To American Idol
This comes as Underwood is preparing to make her debut as a judge on American Idol in March. Underwood famously won the fourth season of American Idol back in 2005.
Underwood will be replacing fellow singer Katy Perry, who left American Idol to focus on her own music career.
“It’s going to be great,” Perry said back in August. “It’s a homecoming for Carrie, it’s a perfect match. I wouldn’t have picked actually anyone else.”
“They made the right decision; I think everyone’s going to be so excited,” she added. “Especially, the big fans of American Idol that have been along the journey.”

Underwood Is ‘Proud’ Of Her Accomplishments
After winning American Idol, Underwood became a country music superstar. She has sold 85 million records worldwide and scored 28 No. 1 singles. She’s won eight Grammys, 17 American Music Awards, ten People’s Choice Awards, and seven CMA Awards.
“I’m proud of everything that I was able to accomplish on the show, and I’m so proud of everything that I’ve accomplished since,” Underwood said.
The showrunners of American Idol have made it clear that they could not be happier to have Underwood onboard.
“This upcoming season marks 20 years since Carrie won America’s hearts on Idol and launched her successful multi-Grammy Award-winning career, As a former Idol and dynamic musical force, she brings a remarkably unique perspective to one of the most popular shows of television,” Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group said in a statement.
“This is a full-circle moment both for the show and for audiences at home who have been tuning in for over two decades,” he added. “Welcome home Carrie.”
Whether you like Trump or not, it will certainly be fun to see Underwood perform at his inauguration. We can’t wait to see how she does!
