Yesterday, we reported that the convicted felon Anna Delvey became the first celebrity eliminated from season 33 of Dancing With The Stars in a double elimination with Tori Spelling. After her elimination, Delvey disrespected the show by glibly saying that she would be taking “nothing” away from her experience.
Now, Dancing With The Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba is firing back at Delvey for her comments.
Delvey Got ‘Nothing’ From ‘Dancing With The Stars’
At the end of Tuesday’s show, Delvey and her partner Ezra Sosa were eliminated alongside with Spelling and Pasha Pashkov. Afterwards, host Julianne Hough asked Delvey what she will be taking away from her experience competing on the ABC reality television show.
“Nothing,” Delvey bluntly responded.
“There you have it, absolutely nothing,” Hough, 36, replied as Sosa looked visibly stunned.
“You had fun, stop it,” host Alfonso Ribeiro chastised Delvey. Despite this, Delvey appeared to stand by her statement.

Inaba Fires Back
Inaba, 56, was particularly put off by what Delvey had to say.
“I was taken aback by her comment,” Inaba told Entertainment Weekly. “That was dismissive not only of the opportunity she was given, of her wonderful and supportive partner Ezra [Sosa] in his debut season, but also of all of us who work on the show — from the dancers to behind the scenes to the creative team.”
“We all put in the effort to give her a fair opportunity,” she continued. “But I don’t think she could see that and it’s a shame. A little gratitude could have changed the narrative.”
When asked if she was surprised that Delvey was eliminated, Inaba replied by saying that Dancing With The Stars fans are “passionate and engaged” and vote for “who they want to win the Mirrorball trophy.”
“But I’d like to point out something important. Our fans don’t vote people off,” she concluded. “That is not our format. Unlike Survivor, we don’t vote people off. Our fans vote for who they want to win.”
Delvey’s Partner Speaks Out
Though fans were shocked by Delvey’s parting words, her Dancing With The Stars partner Sosa wasn’t surprised at all.
“I knew she was going to say something very iconic and something very ‘Anna Delvey’ with her exit,” he admitted to Extra . “Of course she has to — it’s very typical. We would expect nothing less of her.”
Sosa went on to say that Delvey apologized to him repeatedly, specifically for them being eliminated from the ABC reality show first.
“She honestly kept on apologizing to me,” he revealed. “She felt super sorry that my first season was cut short.”
“I honestly wanted to stay longer for my partner,” he later added. “I really wanted to give her a chance to really grow on camera and let America really see who she really is.”
Delvey’s History
Meanwhile, Delvey’s casting on Dancing With The Stars was seen as controversial from the start. Indeed, in 2019, she was convicted of attempted grand larceny, larceny in the second degree, and theft of services. Delvey was subsequently sentenced to four to 12 years in prison, though she was released on parole in March of 2021 for good behavior.
Unfortunately for Delvey, she was then taken into the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for overstaying her visa. She has been under house arrest in New York City ever since, which is why she competed on Dancing With The Stars while wearing an ankle monitor.
After being cast on Dancing With The Stars, Delvey later told People Magazine that she had been given special permission from ICE to compete.
With Delvey and Spelling being eliminated, there are now eleven celebrities left competing on Dancing With The Stars. There will be no episode next Tuesday. The next episode will air on October 8 at 8pm on ABC and Disney+.
