The Oscar-winning Hollywood star Brad Pitt seemingly threw some shade at his two ex-wives Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie this week.
Pitt Appears To Shade His Exes
Pitt, 61, was married to Aniston, 56, from 2000 until they divorced in 2005. Their split came after Pitt had an affair with Jolie, 50, on the set of their 2005 movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
Pitt and Jolie began officially dating immediately after his divorce from Aniston. They went on to have six children together, eventually marrying in 2014. Their marriage ended just two years later, with Jolie filing for divorce in 2016. A bitter divorce battle ensued, lasting eight years before it finally ended in December of 2024.
Aniston and Jolie are two of the most A-list Hollywood actresses alive today. That’s why when Pitt admitted in a new interview that he’s only been starstruck by two actresses in all his life, many assumed it would be his two ex-wives. “When I first met Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon, I was. Yeah,” Pitt said when asked what actresses left him starstruck while appearing on Jason and Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast. Pitt famously appeared in the 1991 movie Thelma & Louise alongside Davis and Sarandon.
“I got over it quickly, though,” he continued.
Pitt’s Experience Filming Thelma & Louise
Some saw this as shade towards Aniston and Jolie, given how famous the two of them are. Indeed, one would think that if Pitt were only to be starstruck by two actresses in his life, it would be the two that he married!
However, Pitt has long been open about how much he enjoyed working with Davis and Sarandon. While making Thelma & Louise, Pitt was a virtually unknown actor. It was this movie that set him on his way to stardom.
In the film, Pitt portrayed the charming and charismatic hitchhiker, J.D., who sleeps with Thelma (Davis) before stealing her money and fleeing. In a 2023 interview, Pitt praised Davis for being “so sweet and kind and delicate” while filming their steamy sex scene.
“That love scene, I think, went on for two days of shooting. She took care of me,” he recalled.
Sarandon has said on the set of Thelma & Louise, the then-unknown Pitt “really impressed” her with “his sense of humor.” She was also struck by “his good looks and great body.”
“I thought, ‘Ah, this guy’s interesting, you know, he’s not just a really gorgeous face,'” she said in a 2021 interview. “He took it as a character part and as we can see from his career, he really continued to push the envelope in ways that he really didn’t have to when you look like that.”
Where Pitt Stands With Jolie And Aniston
Given how bitter Pitt and Jolie’s divorce got, it’s safe to assume that they are not on speaking terms.
“The divorce is something that had been controlling his life for so many years,” an insider told US Weekly on Thursday. “He loved her and he knows he made mistakes.”
“It was such a divisive, toxic situation,” the source continued, adding that Jolie “turned the kids against him as well.”
In contrast, Pitt appears to be on friendly terms with Aniston.
“I’ll run into Jen,” Pitt told Entertainment Tonight in 2020. “She’s a good friend.”
Aniston has had positive things to say about Pitt as well.
“You know, Brad and I are buddies,” she said in a 2021 interview. “Like, we’re friends and we speak.”
