Back in December, we reported that the Oscar-winning Hollywood stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had finalized their divorce after an extremely bitter eight-year court battle. Now, Pitt is speaking out to admit that he’s made some “mistakes” months after he put this grueling divorce battle behind him.

Pitt Opens Up About Past ‘Mistakes’

Last week, Pitt attended the premiere of his new movie F1 in Mexico City, Mexico. There, Pitt got candid about how he’s handled the ups and downs of life.

“No matter the mistake, you know, you just learn from [it] and move on,” Pitt, 61, told Entertainment Tonight when asked what’s making him “feel grounded” these days.

“It’ll lead to the next success,” he continued.

Pitt went on to say that now that he’s in his 60s, he sees “how important it is to surround yourself with the people you know, the people you love, the people that love you back.”

“Friends, family, and that’s it,” he explained. “From there, we get to go make things. It’s a pretty simple, I think, equation.”

This came two weeks after Pitt broke his silence about finalizing his divorce from Jolie, 50, for the first time. He did so after being asked by GQ if he feels “relief” that his divorce battle has finally come to an end.

“No, I don’t think it was that major of a thing,” Pitt replied. “Just something coming to fruition. Legally.”

Pitt And Jolie’s Divorce

Indeed, Pitt and Jolie’s divorce stretched on for years before it was finalized. She filed for divorce from him in 2016. Jolie did so days after a private jet flight in which she alleges that Pitt was abusive to her and their six children. They are parents to Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, Knox, 16, and Vivienne, also 16.

Pitt refused to comment when the divorce was finalized in December. In March, a source close to Pitt told People Magazine that the star is “happy that the divorce is behind him. Things are low-key for the family.”

This insider went on to say that Pitt is “happy” in his relationship with jewelry designer Ines de Ramon, 32. They have been dating since 2022.

“They’re in a great place,” the source added. “Life’s good, no complaints.”

As for Jolie, she was quick to comment publicly after the divorce was finalized in December of 2024.

“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” James Simon, Jolie’s attorney, told Us Weekly at the time.

“This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago,” he continued. “Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

Pitt And Jolie’s History

Pitt and Jolie met on the set of the 2005 movie Mr And Mrs Smith. At the time, Pitt was still married to the former Friends star Jennifer Aniston. They soon split and he began dating Jolie.

Pitt and Jolie went on to marry in 2014 in a ceremony at their vineyard Château Miraval in rural France. Jolie then filed for divorce just over two years later.

Pitt and Jolie are both Oscar-winners who have been widely regarded as two of the biggest Hollywood A-listers for decades. This made every aspect of their divorce tabloid fodder.

For the sake of everyone involved, we’re glad that Pitt and Jolie appear to finally be putting their messy divorce behind them. Now that Pitt is owning up to his past “mistakes,” here’s hoping that both he and Jolie can move on with their lives!
