Back in December, we reported that the Oscar-winning Hollywood stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had finalized their divorce after a bitter eight-year court battle. Now, Pitt has broken his silence to address this for the very first time.

Pitt Addresses Divorce From Jolie

On Wednesday, Pitt, 61, sat down with GQ to promote his new racing movie F1. During this interview, Pitt was asked if he feels “relief” that his lengthy divorce war with Jolie is finally over.

“No, I don’t think it was that major of a thing,” Pitt replied. “Just something coming to fruition. Legally.”

This comes nearly five months after Pitt and Jolie, 49, finalized their divorce. She filed for divorce from him in 2016. Jolie did so days after a private jet flight in which she alleges that Pitt was abusive to her and their six children. They are parents to Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, Knox, 16, and Vivienne, also 16.

Pitt Is ‘Happy’ In The Wake Of Divorce

Pitt refused to comment when the divorce was finalized in December. In March, a source close to Pitt told People Magazine that the star is “happy that the divorce is behind him. Things are low-key for the family.”

This insider went on to say that Pitt is “happy” in his relationship with jewelry designer Ines de Ramon, 32. They have been dating since 2022.

“They’re in a great place,” the source added. “Life’s good, no complaints.”

As for Jolie, she was quick to comment publicly after the divorce was finalized in December of 2024.

“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,” James Simon, Jolie’s attorney, told Us Weekly at the time.

“This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago,” he continued. “Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”

Pitt And Jolie’s History

Pitt and Jolie met on the set of the 2005 movie Mr And Mrs Smith. At the time, Pitt was still married to the former Friends star Jennifer Aniston. They soon split and he began dating Jolie.

Pitt and Jolie went on to marry in 2014 in a ceremony at their vineyard Château Miraval in rural France. Jolie then filed for divorce just over two years later.

In his latest interview, Pitt opened up about his his “personal life is always in the news.”

“It’s been in the news for 30 years, bro,” he lamented. “Or some version of my personal life, let’s put it that way.”

When asked if he sees making F1 as a “a refuge from all the attention” he receives from the press, Pitt wasn’t having it.

“Um, I don’t see it that way,” he said.

Divorce is never easy, particularly when there are children involved. However, Pitt and Jolie’s eight-year divorce battle seems to have been a particularly bitter one. Here’s hoping that Pitt, Jolie, and their children can put this messy saga behind them and move on with their lives!
