Over the past few months, rumors have been swirling that Barack and Michelle Obama are heading for divorce. According to these rumors, Barack and Michelle have been living “separate lives” for quite some time.
On Wednesday, Barack and Michelle addressed these divorce rumors publicly for the first time when he appeared on her IMO podcast. There, Barack surprised everyone by revealing why he’s glad he never had a son with Michelle.
Barack Relieved He Never Had A Son With Michelle
Barack, 63, and Michelle, 61, have been married since 1992. They are parents to daughters Malia, 27, and Sasha, 24. While appearing on his wife’s podcast, Barack opened up about why he’s relieved that he and Michelle never had a son.
“I think we did a pretty good job of raising our girls, but I’ve said often that I think I would have had more difficulty raising a son,” Barack said. Michelle immediately chimed in to say, “I agree.”
“I think I might’ve been more judgmental, harder, and I would’ve tried to — I’d like to think I would have been more self-aware enough to combat that, but I just think father-son relationships, for me, particularly if I don’t have a dad around to show it to me, might’ve been more difficult,” Barack continued.
Barack was just two years-old when his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, divorced his father, Barack H. Obama, Sr. The future president was then raised by his mother. In 2021, Barack took to Instagram to admit that he “didn’t really know” his father.
“He left my mother and me when I was two years old, and only traveled from Kenya to visit us once, when I was ten,” Barack wrote of his father. “That trip was the first and last I saw of him; after that, I heard from him only through the occasional letter, written on thin blue airmail paper that was preprinted to fold and address without an envelope.”

Michelle Is ‘So Glad’ She Never Had Barack’s Son
This comes one month after Michelle admitted that she’s “so glad” that she never had Barack’s son. She said this while interviewing the radio host Angie Martinez on her podcast.
“I’m so glad I didn’t have a boy,” Michelle confessed.
“Why didn’t you throw in a third?” Angie asked.
“Because he would’ve been a Barack Obama,” Michelle fired back.
“Baby Barack — it would’ve been amazing!” Angie responded.
Michelle, however, made it clear that one Barack is more than enough for her.
“Ooh, no, I would’ve felt for him,” Michelle said of her potential baby boy.
“She just borrowed our boys,” Michelle’s older brother and podcast co-host Craig Robinson quipped. He’s the father of four, three of whom are boys.
“I got plenty,” Michelle concluded.

Obama Divorce Rumors
This comes at a difficult time for the Obamas, as they’ve been plagued by rampant divorce rumors for months.
The divorce rumors escalated in a big way back in January, when Michelle, 61, skipped both the funeral of Jimmy Carter and the inauguration of Donald Trump. She was the only living former First Lady to miss each of these events. This forced Barack, 63, to attend both events alone.
“I have been hearing this rumor that the Obamas are getting a divorce by reputable people,” political commentator Meghan McCain said on reporter Tara Palmeri’s podcast earlier this year. “I’m not talking about TMZ, I’m not talking about Perez Hilton, although I love him, he’s my friend.”
“I’m talking about like very serious journalists telling me that they’re hearing that the Obama divorce rumors are true,” she continued.
“We’ve heard that for a long time,” replied Tara, who has long covered Washington politics. “Like I just heard that they live separate lives.”

Michelle Accused Of ‘Really Disliking’ Barack
Back in March, Michelle launched her IMO podcast with her older brother Craig Robinson. Since then, Michelle has used it to bash Barack and air his dirty laundry seemingly every chance she gets.
In fact, Michelle has complained about Barack so many times on her podcast that the former Fox News host Tucker Carlson recently claimed that the former First Lady “really dislikes her husband, and it’s super obvious.”
“I’m not just saying that to be catty,” Tucker explained. “I think I’m trying to feel compassion for her but her hostility toward the guy is unbelievable.”
Tucker’s fellow Fox News host Megyn Kelly was quick to agree. She pointed out that “everything Michelle says about her husband is negative.”
“I almost never say negative things about Doug,” Megyn added, referring to her husband Doug Brunt. “He’s not perfect but when I think about him, I don’t immediately go to whatever is negative. I go to what’s positive and what I love about him.”

Barack And Michelle Respond
During their conversation on Wednesday, Barack and Michelle desperately tried to shoot down these divorce rumors.
“There hasn’t been one moment in our marriage where I thought about quitting my man,” Michelle claimed. “And we’ve had some really hard times. So we had a lot of fun times, a lot of adventures, and I have become a better person because of the man I’m married to.”
“These are the kinds of things that I just miss, right?” Barack chimed in to add. “So I don’t even know this stuff’s going on. And then somebody will mention it to me and I’m all like, ‘what are you talking about?'”
Unfortunately for the Obamas, however, many are still not buying their claim that their marriage is still going strong.
Barack’s comments about being happy that he never had a son with Michelle will certainly do nothing to help their case that all is well in their marriage. Only time will tell if Barack and Michelle Obama actually stay together!
