We previously reported that the Oscar-winning Hollywood star Angelina Jolie was preparing to flee America after her bitter eight year divorce battle with Brad Pitt finally ended. We also reported that Jolie was publicly bashing America, saying that she doesn’t “recognize” the country anymore.
Now, new images have emerged that are adding fuel to the rumors that Jolie is preparing to leave the country very soon.
Is Jolie About To Leave America?
Photos obtained by Daily Mail show that Jolie’s $24.5 million Hollywood mansion is looking awfully pristine these days. Indeed, according to the publication, the property is looking far better than it previously did. This is a strong indication that it’s being prepared to be sold.
Earlier images show that Jolie’s property was previously filled with bald patches and things like trampolines for her six children. In contrast, new photos show that the Los Feliz estate is in immaculate condition. The lawns are meticulously manicured, the swimming pool looks crystal clear, and the gardens appear to be tended to with great care.
This is just the latest sign that Jolie, 50, is preparing to follow through with leaving America. It comes after she sold her apartment in New York City, which she’d owned since 1997, in the summer of 2025.
Jolie’s youngest children, twins Knox and Vivienne, are set to turn 18 in July of this year. Once that happens, it is believed that Jolie will be leaving America. Indeed, she’s long been open about feeling “stuck” in Los Angeles because of her custody agreement with Pitt, 62.
“I am here because I have to be here from a divorce,” Jolie admitted to The Hollywood Reporter in 2024. “But as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave.”
Jolie Bashes America
Jolie doubled down on this back in September when she publicly bashed America.
“I love my country, but at this time, I don’t recognize my country,” Jolie told Variety at the time. “I’ve always lived internationally, my family is international, my friends, my life… My worldview is equal, united, and international.”
“Anything anywhere that divides or limits personal expressions and freedoms from anyone, I think, is very dangerous,” she concluded. “These are such serious times that we have to be careful not to say things casually. These are very, very heavy times we are living in together.”
Possible Financial Issues For Jolie
It is believed that Jolie plans to split her time between Europe and Cambodia, where she is a citizen and owns a home.
“She can’t get far enough away from the drama… the only way to take a break is to get out,” said Jae Benjamin, an actor and producer who has been friends with Jolie since 2005.
While Jolie is reportedly “feeling excited” to move abroad, there might be financial issues at play here as well. Gossip columnist Rob Shuter recently claimed that Jolie is “struggling to keep her lifestyle in Los Angeles.”
An insider reportedly told Schuter that Jolie is “not broke, but she’s not exactly swimming in cash either.”
“The legal battle with Brad over Miraval has drained her accounts faster than anyone imagined,” the source allegedly said.
This was a reference to the legal battle that Pitt and Jolie are currently in over their French winery Chateau Miraval. Though their divorce was finalized in December of 2024 after a whopping eight years of litigation, they are still fighting it out over this vineyard in court.
According to Schuter’s source, the legal costs have become “astronomical” for Jolie. One lawyer close to the case emphasized that “every hearing, every lawyer, every filing – it’s like throwing money into a bonfire. Even someone like Angelina feels it.”
All of this combined is leading fans to firmly believe that Jolie is preparing to flee the country as soon as her twins turn 18. Only time will tell if she follows through with that!
