We previously reported that the Oscar-winning Hollywood star Angelina Jolie was preparing to flee America after her bitter eight year divorce battle with Brad Pitt finally ended. We also reported that Jolie was publicly bashing America, saying that she doesn’t “recognize” the country anymore.
Now, insiders are saying that Jolie, 50, is “excited” for 2026 as she prepares to start a new life abroad.
Jolie Is ‘Ready’ To Flee America
“She’s ready for a life that isn’t centered in Los Angeles,” a source told People Magazine.
“There are a lot of projects she’s excited about and she’s feeling good. She’s looking forward to 2026 and the flexibility she’ll have then,” the insider added.
Jolie and Pitt, 62, are the parents of six children: Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17. Their divorce was finalized a year ago today, on December 30, 2024.
Another insider previously said that Jolie “never wanted to live in L.A. full time.” However, “she didn’t have a choice because of the custody arrangement with Brad [Pitt].”
This source went on to say that Jolie “plans to relocate as soon as Knox and Viv turn 18 next year. She’s eyeing several locations abroad. She’ll be very happy when she’s able to leave Los Angeles.”
The twins will be celebrating their 18th birthdays on July 12, 2026. It seems that Jolie will be fleeing America as soon as possible after that.
Jolie Bashes America
Back in September, Jolie made headlines when she publicly bashed America.
“I love my country, but at this time, I don’t recognize my country,” Jolie told Variety at the time. “I’ve always lived internationally, my family is international, my friends, my life… My worldview is equal, united, and international.”
“Anything anywhere that divides or limits personal expressions and freedoms from anyone, I think, is very dangerous,” she continued. “These are such serious times that we have to be careful not to say things casually. These are very, very heavy times we are living in together.”
Jolie ‘Would Love To Live Abroad’
Despite being born and raised in Los Angeles, Jolie has long been open about her desire to flee the country.
“I would love to live abroad and will do so as soon as my children are 18,” Jolie said in a 2019 interview.
Sources are saying that Jolie is currently actively making moves to make that dream a reality.
“You can really feel a shift in Angelina recently; she’s lighter and more at ease,” an insider previously told US Weekly. “She’ll always love L.A., but she feels it has served its purpose. She’s ready for her next chapter.”
“She’s very excited for this next phase of her life,” a second source added.
As for where Jolie will go, another insider revealed that she will likely split her time between Cambodia, France, and various countries in Africa.
“She has dear friends in all of [those areas] who she considers confidantes and family,” this source explained. The previous insider chimed back in to say that Jolie “loves being in cultures that inspire her. Angelina thrives when she’s outside of Hollywood.”
Jolie herself has been open about this.
“I’ve always lived internationally, my family is international, my friends, my life,” Jolie previously said.
Sadly, it’s trendy these days for celebrities to bash America by saying that they wish to live abroad. However, very few stars actually put their money where their mouths are and go through with moving. Only time will tell if Jolie actually does end up moving abroad. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how this turns out for her!
