We previously reported that the Oscar-winning Hollywood star Angelina Jolie was preparing to flee America after her bitter eight year divorce battle with Brad Pitt finally ended. We also reported that Jolie was publicly bashing America, saying that she doesn’t “recognize” the country anymore.
Now, insiders are claiming that Jolie is “excited and energized” as she prepares for a new life abroad. According to these sources, she specifically sees Los Angeles as being a “toxic environment for her.”
Jolie ‘Excited’ To Flee America
Jolie, 50, is reportedly planning to leave America after her youngest children, twins Knox and Vivienne, turn 18 in July of this year.
“L.A. is a toxic environment for her,” an insider told Star Magazine. “But now the end is in sight, she’s excited and energized.”
As for Pitt, 62, he’s “resigned” to Jolie’s plan to move their family’s home base abroad. Despite this, he has no intention of ceasing his legal battle with Jolie. Indeed, the two of them are still battling it out in court over their French winery Château Miraval.
“He’s adamant that wherever Angie lands in the world, he’ll continue to go hard on her in the courts,” the insider continued. “She’s watching every dime these days. Colossal legal bills are a massive ongoing worry.”
Jolie’s Eagerness To Leave America
Despite being born and raised in Los Angeles as the daughter of the Oscar-winning star Jon Voight, Jolie has long expressed her desire to leave the California city forever. She’s previously said that she will only stay in L.A. until all six of her children turn 18. The last of those children will hit that landmark in July, when Knox and Vivienne celebrate their 18th birthdays.
“I am here because I have to be here from a divorce,” Jolie admitted to The Hollywood Reporter in 2024. “But as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave.”
Like many celebrities, Jolie has also taken to expressing her dissatisfaction with America as a whole as of late.
“I love my country, but at this time, I don’t recognize my country,” Jolie told Variety back in September. “I’ve always lived internationally, my family is international, my friends, my life… My worldview is equal, united, and international.”
“Anything anywhere that divides or limits personal expressions and freedoms from anyone, I think, is very dangerous,” she concluded. “These are such serious times that we have to be careful not to say things casually. These are very, very heavy times we are living in together.”
Jolie And Pitt’s History
Jolie and Pitt met on the set of the 2005 movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith. At the time, Pitt was still married to the former Friends star Jennifer Aniston. They soon split and he immediately began dating Jolie.
Pitt and Jolie went on to marry in 2014 in a ceremony at their winery in rural France. Jolie then filed for divorce just over two years later. Jolie filed for divorce days after an alleged altercation on a private jet flight. There, Jolie alleges that Pitt was abusive to her and their six children.
Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016. However, it wasn’t until December of 2024 that the divorce was actually finalized. Unfortunately, their court battles are still not over as they continue fighting it out over their French winery.
All six of Pitt and Jolie’s children appear to have taken her side. It is believed that they are all estranged from Pitt these days.
After such a messy divorce, it isn’t surprising that Jolie wants to turn over a new leaf by moving abroad. Only time will tell how life outside of America actually goes for her!
