Country star Lainey Wilson has had an explosive rise to the top.

The blonde troubadour got her start in 2014, but her career really took off around 2020. That’s six long years of relatively little success, so how did she stay positive and keep working at it?

That’s easy – she’s a farm girl from a long line of farmers. If there’s anyone who knows how to work hard, it’s the American farmer!

Wilson’s Farm Family

While you probably won’t see her in her tight pants on the farm, she’s used to wearing leather.

The Yellowstone co-star comes from five – count them five – generations of farmers. Before the Academy of Country Music Awards, she gave an interview talking about her parents and family.

One message that came through loud and clear? Never give up!

“Yes, my parents are, they’re the ones to blame,” she said. “They’re the ones to blame for all of this. They have truly supported me from the beginning.”

Nothing wrong with that Lainey! Those are good parents.

As for the farm values instilled in her since she was a little girl, she said:

“I truly do think it is from being from a long line of farmers. I mean, on my mom’s side and my daddy’s side. They rolled their sleeves up. They got to work every single day and had good years and bad years, but at the end of the day, they loved it.”

Dear reader, I can confirm for you this is true. My mother grew up on the farm, and these people work. They never stop working. My grandfather is 89 years old now, and you just won’t find him with his feet up.

Probably 50% of the joints in his body are now titanium, but the man will find any excuse to keep it moving and work on something – especially to help someone else. That’s just how farmers are.

Same with Lainey!

Are Lainey Wilson and Jelly Roll Siblings?

There’s been a lot of speculation about Wilson’s family. For starters, her father really is named Brian Wilson. No, not that Brian Wilson.

There has also been speculation about her relationship to fellow country singer Jelly Roll – who often refers to Wilson as his “sister.”

It all started at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards. During her introduction, Jelly Roll referred to Wilson as “my sister.”

He also made the same reference in an interview with Entertainment Tonight:

“Lainey Wilson’s my sister. That’s just my sister. That’s how I look at her. And there’s such a kinship with us, and the fact that we’re both where we are in our careers, right now, at the same record label, with a song together that’s just on fire, is just — I told her, I said, ‘Man, we’ll always look back at this era at the time that we were attached… this will be the golden era for us, this’ll be the good ole days.”

Unfortunately, the two are not blood related. Jelly Roll does have brothers and sisters, but Lainey Wilson is not among them!
