After going through an extremely bitter divorce from her second husband Tom Vitale in 2022, the former “One Day At A Time” star Valerie Bertinelli didn’t think that she would ever be able to find love again. Thankfully, this ended up not being the case, as Bertinelli is speaking out this week to confirm that she’s dating again!
Bertinelli Finds Love Again
“I’ve met someone. And I’m incredibly grateful for him,” Bertinelli, 63, told USA Today. “It’s unlike any relationship that I’ve ever experienced with a man. I don’t want to say too much, but I feel incredibly blessed and lucky to have met him, because I wasn’t expecting it!”
“He was not on my radar. I was going to die with my six cats and my dog and be incredibly happy doing it,” she continued. “So this came out of left field, and I’m grateful it did. He’s very special.”
Bertinelli went on to say that she’s shocked herself that she actually went public with the relationship .
“What was I doing? … I just can’t help it,” she admitted. “When I’m flipping happy, it’s all over me, and he’s one of the main reasons.
“I really want women and men to take away that it’s the work that you do (on yourself) that can lead you to meeting someone like I’ve been lucky enough to meet right now,” she added. “This would not have happened three years ago, four years ago, last year ― it wouldn’t have. And I feel incredibly lucky to have met him and made a connection with him.”
Bertinelli was previously married to the late rocker Eddie Van Halen from 1981 until they divorced in 2007 before she married Vitale in 2011 and divorced him in 2022.

Bertinelli Never Thought She’d Find Love Again
Earlier this week, Bertinelli took to her Instagram Story to share an old video of herself that was captioned “When someone asks if I’ll start dating again soon,” and it showed her adamantly shake her head and mouth “Yeah, (expletive) no.”
“This didn’t age well,” she captioned the repost.
During a 2022 appearance on the “Today” show, a visibly emotional Bertinelli made it clear that she thought finding love again was not in the cards for her.
“I have some trust issues,” Bertinelli said as she began to cry. “I am gonna be more than happy to be happily divorced and spend the rest of my life alone.”

‘Divorce Sucks’
Bertinelli went on to explain that her reasoning behind this was that she “can’t imagine ever trusting anyone again to let into my life. So I have some trust issues that I’m sure I’m going to have to get past.”
Being divorced twice also appeared to be weighing heavily on Bertinelli.
“Divorce sucks,” she said bluntly.
It’s great to see that Bertinelli was able to bounce back from this and defy her own expectations to find love again. Hopefully her and her lucky significant other will have many years of happiness together to come!
