Priscilla Presley Breaks Her Silence After Reaching Settlement With Granddaughter Over Lisa Marie’s Estate

Yesterday, we reported that Priscilla Presley had finally reached a settlement with her granddaughter Riley Keough over the estate of her daughter Lisa Marie, who died suddenly of a heart attack back in January at the age of 54. Now, Priscilla has broken her silence publicly for the first time since this settlement was reached.

Priscilla Speaks Out Over Settlement

“My family has resolved all confusion as it relates to our plea to the court and request for document interpretation after my daughter Lisa Marie’s untimely passing,” Priscilla, 77, told Entertainment Tonight. “Although some media identified such a plea as a lawsuit, I want to make clear that there was never any lawsuit filed against my beloved granddaughter.”

“As a family, we are pleased that we resolved this together,” she continued. “My family and I hope that everyone will grant us the privacy we have needed to properly grieve Lisa Marie and spend personal time together. We love and appreciate all of you and the Presley family is stronger than ever.”

Settlement Reached

The settlement came as somewhat of a shock when it was announced on Tuesday, as reports had swirled that Priscilla and Riley, 33, were feuding over it.

“All parties have reached a settlement and the families are happy. They are very excited for the future,” said Priscilla’s lawyer Ronson J. Shamoun, with Riley’s attorney Justin Gold adding, “Riley is very happy. She’s a remarkable woman and her future is bright.”

The specifics of the settlement have not been revealed to the public.

“I would think that a settlement is the best outcome,” said entertainment attorney Mitra Ahouraian. “And [that] this would be a relief for everyone to have this resolved, and to be able to move on, and to come to some sort of agreement that everyone is happy with.”

Feud Over Lisa Marie’s Will

Just two weeks after Lisa Marie died, Priscilla legally challenged her will, which gave all control of her Promenade Trust to Riley. Lisa Marie reportedly cut Priscilla out of her will back in 2016 for unknown reasons, instead giving everything to Riley and her brother Benjamin Keough, who sadly committed suicide in 2020 at the age of 27.

Though Riley was said to be livid about what Priscilla was doing, she didn’t file an objection to the challenge.

“Priscilla doesn’t want Riley solely in charge, because then she has no say,” a family insider told People Magazine back in March. “Meanwhile, Riley doesn’t want Priscilla to butt in.”

A source close to Riley added, “It’s a very sad situation. Riley is shocked Priscilla is contesting the amendment.”

Joel Weinshanker, a managing partner at Elvis Presley Enterprises, has claimed that Lisa Marie was “very, very quite certain and quite direct about who she wanted to have the legacy [left] to.”

“That was always Riley and Ben,” he explained. “There was a never a question in her mind that they would be the stewards, that they would look at it exactly the way she did. Obviously, when Ben passed, it really sat with Riley.”

“Although Riley is a movie star, she’s an award-winning director, she had always had an interest and had always known that one day, she would be in charge of [things],” he concluded.

Now that this legal battle is behind them, we can only hope that Priscilla and Riley are able to salvage their relationship. Life is too short to hold grudges, particularly when it comes to family, so it would be great to see them come back together as grandmother and granddaughter again!
