The Oscar-winning Hollywood star Morgan Freeman is defying the woke left to slam Black History Month as an “insult” while also taking issue with the politically correct term “African-American.”

Freeman Sounds Off

Daily Mail reported that Freeman, 85, doesn’t like Black History Month, which is observed in February, because it “relegates” his race’s history to just four weeks.

“Two things I can say publicly that I do not like: Black History Month is an insult. You’re going to relegate my history to a month?” Freeman told The Sunday Times.

“Also ‘African-American’ is an insult,” he continued. “I don’t subscribe to that title. Black people have had different titles all the way back to the n-word and I do not know how these things get such a grip, but everyone uses ‘African-American.'”

“What does it really mean?” Freeman added. “Most black people in this part of the world are mongrels. And you say Africa as if it’s a country when it’s a continent, like Europe.”

This comes weeks after Golden State Warriors star player Draymond Green also criticized Black History Month.

“At some point, it’s time to get rid of Black History Month,” he said back in March, according to Fox News. “Not get rid of Black history, like they’re trying to do.”

“But Black History Month?” he continued. “Nah, teach my history from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, and then do it again. And then again. And then again. And then again. That’s what I’d like to see.”

Freeman Plays Himself In Movies

In his same interview, Freeeman admitted that he often plays himself in his movies, and that he does so for the money.

“When my career started in film I wanted to be a chameleon,” he said, according to JoBlo. “I remember De Niro early on, doing very different parts. Almost unrecognisable as the same actor. I had opportunities like that.”

“But as you mature in this business, eventually you become a star,” he added. “Then you’re pretty screwed in terms of referring to yourself as a character actor. You play a lot of the same type of role–people hire you and say, ‘It’s you that I want.’ And you live with it. It’s just…me. The character will adapt itself to you rather than the other way round…Sometimes it’s just the money alone…Sometimes you just work to pay the rent.”

Freeman On Black Actors’ Progress

Freeman also acknowledged how far black actors have come in Hollywood since he started his career decades ago.

“When I was growing up there was no ‘me’ in the movies,” Freeman said, according to Insider. “If there was a black man in a movie he was funny. Until Sidney Poitier came and gave young people like me the idea that, ‘OK, yes, I can do that.'”

“And I spoke with Sidney way back. He said, ‘I wanted to be like you,'” he continued. “Generationally, though, I do think we’re moving ahead in leaps and bounds.”

Those who are on the woke left will not like that Freeman is coming for their precious Black History Month, nor will they like that he’s attacking their beloved politically correct term “African-American.” In the end, Freeman is showing that he’s not afraid to defy the woke mob by telling it like it is. If only more stars in Hollywood would do the same!
