Morgan Freeman Defies Left To Defend Cops – ‘I’m Not For Defunding The Police’
Morgan Freeman caught everyone by surprise when he defended cops, saying "I'm not for defunding the police" in a new interview.
The movement to “defund the police” became a popular cry among Hollywood elite over the past year with very few celebrities stepping up to defend cops. So it was a welcome change this week when Academy Award-winning Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman surprised an interviewer with his response to her ‘defund the police’ question.
Morgan Freeman Does NOT Support ‘Defund The Police’
While talking about his new movie The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain, Freeman admitted that he is not on the bandwagon to defund the police.
“I’m not in the least bit for defunding the police,” Freeman said. “Police work is, aside from all the negativity around it, it is very necessary for us to have them and most of them are guys that are doing their job. They’re going about their day-to-day jobs. There are some police the never pulled their guns except in rage, that sort of thing. I don’t know.”

The ‘defund the police’ question was expected to be a softball lob given Morgan Freeman’s new movie, The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain, is about an elderly African American veteran killed by police.
So Freeman’s response in defense of police caught Black Enterprise host Selena Hill off guard.

Even after starring in the film meant to shine a light on Chamberlain’s unfortunate death, Freeman stood strong in his support of the good work and people of America’s police.
Morgan Freeman Puts His Money Where His Mouth Is When It Comes To Police
While Morgan Freeman is publicly against the ‘defund the police’ movement, he is an advocate for police reform.
Earlier this year, Freeman gave $1 million to the University of Mississippi to establish a Center for Evidence-Based Policing and Reform.
“Our flagship university wants to strengthen the work of police forces in our state and beyond, particularly those in more rural communities that might not have as many resources as departments in large metropolitan areas,” Boyce added.
This comes at a time in which most celebrities have gone full “woke,” and enjoy demonizing police every chance they get.
Kudos to Morgan Freeman for going against the grain when asked about ‘defund the police’.
We need more celebrities willing to take a public stand for law enforcement.
Our communities are blessed to have men and women willing to put their lives on the line for the rest of us every day.
