The legendary Hollywood star Helen Mirren is speaking out this week to reveal why she was “so excited” to film bedroom scenes with Harrison Ford for their show “1923,” which is a prequel to the show “Yellowstone.”

Mirren Gushes Over Ford

While appearing on the panel for the 2023 Awards Season Screening Series with TheWrap, Mirren said that she had to “pretend to be cool” before getting into bed with Ford.

“He’s amazing. He really is,” said Mirren, 77. “The stature he’s held, as a major, humongous movie star, all that time, at the same time as somebody who doesn’t love the limelight. He has this interior quality to him.”

“He’s come to a place where he can be easy with other actors,” she continued. “It’s immensely generous and incredibly professional. Not remotely spoiled movie star, at all. I genuinely love him. If I wasn’t married …”

Mirren then brought up a “1923” scene in which her and Ford’s characters, Jacob and Cara Dutton, were in bed together.

“I had to be in the bed with him, you know. I’m dressed up to here,” she said. “But I’m lying there and I’m thinking, ‘I’m in bed with Harrison Ford.’ I was so excited, I can’t tell you. I had to pretend to be cool. Don’t tell him. Promise me.”

Ford Praises Mirren

Ford, 80, appears to feel the same way about Mirren, as he recently said that she is “still sexy.”

“It’s been remarkable to watch her. There’s a lot of physical action, and she just jumps right in and does stuff you don’t imagine Helen Mirren would do … Dame Helen Mirren,” Ford said of Mirren and her “1923” role in a February interview, according to Fox News.

Mirren And Ford Sign On For ‘1923’

Mirren previously revealed to Deadline that she and Ford signed on to do “1923” without reading a script or even knowing what characters they’d be playing.

“For the first time in my life, I wasn’t given a script. I had no idea what it was going to be, and likewise for Harrison [Ford],”she said last weekend. “We were asked to participate, and you do what you do as an actor and say, ‘Lovely, sounds really interesting. I’d love to read the script?’ But there is no script.”

“Taylor likes to write for the people that he knows are going to play the role,” she explained. “That was a combination of flattering and at the same time sort of rather nerve-wracking because I’d actually never met Taylor Sheridan and maybe when he meets me, he won’t want to write for me.”

‘It’s Amazing Writing’

Mirren and Sheridan hit it off as soon as they met, and the character of Cara Dutton was born.

“The Irish thing is something I added personally,” Mirren stated. “I thought about how when you see Westerns, you don’t see enough people with accents even though they were all recent immigrants. … Apart from that, honestly, it’s amazing writing, and what’s on the page, it arrives and it’s kind of perfect. It’s extraordinary.”

We’re so glad that Mirren and Ford decided to do this project, and that they seem to have had so much fun making it. “1923” is currently streaming on Paramount+, so be sure to check it out if you haven’t already!
