Ozzy Osbourne, 74, Defiantly Says He’s ‘F***ing Not Dying’ After Announcing His Retirement

Last month, we reported that the legendary Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Obsourne made the tragic announcement that he was retiring from touring due to his various health issues that include a battle with Parkinson’s disease. Osbourne, 74, got defiant about his situation in a new interview, saying that while he’s in “constant pain,” he’s also “f***ing not dying.”

Osbourne Sounds Off

“Well, I’ve been working my guts out to try and get back on my feet,” Osbourne said, according to Fox News. “I’ve come to the point where Sharon says to me, ‘You know what, the truth of the marriage, you can’t keep booking tours and failing, canceling.'”

Osbourne was referring to his wife Sharon, who he’s been married to since 1982.

“So, if I can ever get back to where I can tour again, fine. But right now, if you said to me, ‘Can you go on the road in a month?’ I couldn’t say, ‘Yes,’” he added. “I mean, if I could tour, I’d tour. But right now I can’t book tours because right now, I don’t think I could pull them off.”

When told that it was hard to believe he was really retiring, Osbourne replied, “This f—ing press drive you nuts. I mean, I, I looked in the magazine, ‘Ozzy’s on his last legs,’ I’m f—ing not dying.”

Osbourne went on to address his recent victory in the best metal performance and best rock album category at the 2023 Grammy Awards.

“It’s an award,” he said humbly. “It’s, like, film has the Oscars — music has the Grammys. I’m not saying I don’t like ’em, but I wish I could tour to back it up. Cause I’m sitting at home. I’m getting these awards, and [it’s] okay. I don’t mind it. It cheers me up a little bit for a few days.”

Osbourne Announces Retirement

This comes weeks after Osbourne announced his retirement from touring and cancelled the tour that he’d planned for later this year.

“This is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to share with my loyal fans,” Osbourne said in a statement posted to his social media accounts. “As you may all know, four years ago, this month, I had a major accident, where I damaged my spine.”

This was a reference to a fall that he suffered at his home back in 2019.

“I have now come to the realization that I’m not physically capable of doing my upcoming European/UK tour dates, as I know I couldn’t deal with the travel required,” he said. “Believe me when I say that the thought of disappointing my fans really F**** ME UP, more than you will ever know. Never would I have imagined that my touring days would have ended this way.”

Osbourne’s Medical Issues

Osbourne was diagnosed with Parkinson’s back in 2003, which was the same year he was almost killed in an ATV accident while riding around London.

He underwent major spinal surgery last year that left him with 15 screws in his back as well as nerve pain in his neck, back, shoulders and arms.

Osbourne is clearly struggling right now, and it’s sad to see what he’s going through. Please join us in saying a prayer for his health in the months and years to come.
