The Hollywood star Chris Pratt has found himself being targeted by cancel culture various times over the years, mostly because he’s a patriotic American who many suspect holds conservative views. His wife Katherine Schwarzenegger is now speaking out to defend him, saying that he does not deserve the criticism that he often receives.

‘I See What People Say’

“I see what people say,” Schwarzenegger, 33, told The New York Times. “But I just know that it’s so far from the reality.”

Schwarzenegger added that “growing up, hearing people say certain things about my parents, my siblings, my extended family” was hard. She is the daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, who is the niece of the former President John F. Kennedy. Schwarzenegger went on to say that her mother warned her about the “never-ending trap” of responding to critics.

Schwarzenegger also said that despite coming from a famous family, she was never asked about her personal life until she started dating Pratt. The couple married in June of 2019 after dating for one year, and they have gone on to have two daughters together, according to Fox News. Pratt is also a father to a 10 year-old son Jack with his ex-wife Anna Faris, an actress who is best known for starring on the sitcom “Mom.”

“I wasn’t getting questions about my love life or who I was dating or anything like that,” Schwarzenegger explained.

Pratt Gets Attacked

Pratt came under fire in November of 2021 when he praised Schwarzenegger for giving him a “healthy daughter.” Some fans saw this as “insulting” to Faris and Jack, who has had some health issues after being born prematurely. Pratt admitted last year that he “cried” over these vicious attacks involving his family.

“[Ignoring Twitter comments is] a lesson I’ve learned. It’s not a lesson that my son has learned yet,” Pratt confessed. “I said something like, ‘Find someone who looks at you the way my wife looks at me.’ And then I gave her some s— in the thing and said, ‘But I love you. I’m so thankful for my wife. She gave me a beautiful, healthy daughter.'”

“And then a bunch of articles came out and said, ‘That’s so cringeworthy. I can’t believe Chris Pratt would thank her for a healthy daughter when his first child was born premature. That’s such a dig at his ex-wife,'” he continued.

Pratt found himself terrified over the impact this all would have on Jack when he is old enough to find out about it.

“That is f—ed up. My son’s gonna read that one day,” he said. “He’s nine. And it’s etched in digital stone. It really f—ing bothered me, dude. I cried about it.”

“You don’t ever wanna get caught complaining or anything ’cause I have so many blessings,” Pratt added. “I consider everything a blessing truly in my life. [But] why are they coming after me?”

Schwarzenegger Defends Pratt

Though Schwarzenegger never spoke out about this incident, she defended Pratt in 2020 when he was dubbed the “worst Hollywood Chris” in an internet poll.

“Is this really what we need?” she said at the time. “There’s so much going on in the world, and people struggling in so many ways. Being mean is so yesterday. There’s enough room to love all these guys. Love is what we all need, not meanness and bullying. Let’s try that.”

Pratt is an incredible person who seems to be one of the few stars in Hollywood who actually has a strong moral compass. We applaud Schwarzenegger for standing by him, and we wish them both many years of happiness to come!
