With the news of late last week, some are asking if William Regal’s WWE return is at risk. And, over the weekend an AEW wrestler snaps at fans.
Fans of his work in NXT were sad to see him fired, and happy to hear he’s back…but now William Regal’s return could be at risk.
No, it is not because of anything Regal did.
Regal stunningly exited AEW late in 2022. Details emerged about there being an “out” in his contract, and also the desire to want to be closer to his son, who is working in NXT.
While Tony Khan took a hard line for some AEW talents wanting out, things were easier with Regal.
The only apparent caveat is that Regal cannot be on television this year…but we shall see.
But, after what transpired last week…is William Regal’s return already at risk? According to the Observer…maybe.
Specifically…the man who brought him back might not be calling shots much longer.
After all, Vince McMahon made a power play, and months after he was effectively forced out for bad behavior…he’s back.
And it was Vince McMahon who spearheaded Regal’s previous WWE exit.
Of course, Regal is not the only relatively fresh WWE re-hire who was also shown the door by the newly returned Vince.
But McMahon’s return does make talent worry that there might be a sudden and massive reversal of fortunes, as we’ve seen Vince do previously.
With Regal only just back, would Vince show him the door already…or would Regal simply opt to exit on his own and skip the drama?
Hopefully Vince is true to early reports, that he wouldn’t muck with existing leadership, including creative.
But..this is Vince McMahon…
In something you never want to see or hear about, an AEW wrestler snaps at fans.
And, thus far, there is no indication this was just a wrestler staying in character to an extreme degree.
Danny Garcia has done well for himself in AEW, but this incident happened recently during a PWG appearance.
During the show, things get heated between Garcia and fans.
Eventually, things escalated to Garcia kicking at fans, and most of Twitter wasn’t having any of it.
One fan provided this account, which offers a little context, perhaps?
So…there does seem to be a history, if that is indeed the same fan.
Still, some think Garcia went too far.
However, seems like given that person’s history, most responding thought Garcia was actually restrained.
And, as was my first reaction as well…there is no reason fans should ever be that close to any ring anymore.
Between action spilling over and being close enough to physically touch a wrestler without leaving your seat? It’s a recipe for disaster.
