Earlier this month, we reported that the Hollywood star Jeremy Renner, who is best known for playing Hawkeye in the Marvel movies, had been crushed by a 14,000-pound snowplow outside of his home in Lake Tahoe.

While it initially seemed like Renner would make a swift recovery, sources close to him are now saying that his injuries may be more severe than they were thought to be at first.

Renner’s Recovery Could Take Years

Daily Mail reported that friends of Renner’s are warning that the 52 year-old actor’s recovery may take years.

“It’s much worse than anyone knows. Jeremy is very aware of the fact that he almost died out there,” a source told RadarOnline. “The right side of Jeremy’s chest was crushed, and his upper torso had collapsed. He also had a bad head wound that was bleeding and a leg injury.”

The source went on to say that it may be up to two years before Renner is back to his normal self again.

“Jeremy was in a lot of pain, and was having difficulty breathing,” the insider continued. “He knew he was in bad shape and that he might not make it out of this.”

“Word is the damage to Jeremy’s chest was so substantial it had to be reconstructed in surgery,” the source added. “So far, he’s had two surgeries and he will likely require more in the weeks ahead on his leg. Doctors tend to space out operations to allow time for the body’s natural healing process to kick in, and that’s the case here.”

Renner Home From Hospital

This comes one day after Renner took to social media to reveal that he is now home from the hospital.

“Outside my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home,” Renner wrote in response to a tweet by his show “Mayor of Kingstown.”

Last week, Renner’s sister Kym told People Magazine that the family is “thrilled” with the progress the two-time Oscar-winning actor is making.

“We are so thrilled with his progress,” Kym said. “If anyone knows Jeremy, he is a fighter and doesn’t mess around. He is crushing all of the progress goals. We couldn’t feel more positive about the road ahead.”

Sheriff Speaks Out

Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam had told reporters that Renner was helping a family member get a “stuck” vehicle when the incident occurred.

“Mr. Renner went to retrieve his PistenBully, or snowcat — an extremely large piece of snow-removal equipment weighing at least 14,330 pounds — in an effort to get his vehicle moving,” said Balaam. “After successfully towing his personal vehicle from its stuck location, Mr. Renner got out of his PistenBully to speak to his family member.”

“At this point, it is observed that the PistenBully started to roll. In an effort to stop the rolling PistenBully, Mr. Renner attempts to get back into the driver’s seat of the PistenBully,” he added. “Based on our investigation, it’s at this point that Mr. Renner is run over by the PistenBully.”

While we’re glad that Renner is home from the hospital, it seems that he’s in for a long road to recovery. Please join us in saying a prayer for him during this difficult time!
