Dolly Parton and Dionne Warwick are two of the most legendary and iconic singers alive today. That’s why their fans will be ecstatic to learn that they are set to collaborate on a gospel duet!

Parton And Warwick Collaborating

Warwick, 80, dropped the bomb that a collaboration between her and Parton, 76, is in the works while she appeared on “The Tamron Hall Show” earlier this week.

“[Parton] sent me a song that she wanted me to record,” Warwick said, according to Page Six. “And I said, ‘Okay, that sounds like a deal!”

Warwick went on to describe Parton as being “such a sweetheart.”

“She sent me another song, the one that we’re going to be doing as a duet,” she said. “[It’s] a gospel song called ‘Peace Like a River’… I am very excited about this. I really am. I’ve done so many duets over the years, but this one’s gonna be very special.”

Parton’s Connection To Warwick’s Family

Parton has known Warwick and her entire family for decades. Some fans may be surprised to learn that Warwick’s cousin was the late Whitney Houston, who made Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” one of the most successful songs in music history. Parton opened up about how Houston’s version of the song came to be in an interview with the singer and talk show host Kelly Clarkson last month.

“When they were doing The Bodyguard movie, they had chosen another song for the theme song [at first],” Parton recalled, according to Entertainment Tonight. “Kevin Costner and his secretary said, ‘Do you remember Dolly Parton’s song, ‘I Will Always Love You?’ It’s a country song, but it’s a beautiful song.’ So they called me to see if they could use it, and I said yes.”

“I didn’t know [or hear] anything else about it. I didn’t know if they had it, if they had done it,” she added. “And I was driving my car [through L.A.] and I was driving along and I had the radio on, and I just heard [the song] and that was the first time. They didn’t send it to me or nothing.”

Parton ‘Had To Pull Over’

Parton went on to admit that she “just freaked out” when she heard Houston’s version of the song.

“I had to pull over to the side, because I honestly thought I’d get in a wreck,” she added. “It was the most overwhelming feeling.”

Parton then praised Clarkson for her version of the song that she performed last year at the ACMs.

“When you sang that song, when you did that at the Academy of Country Music Awards [in March], and you did that at the end, I have to tell you, Whitney would have been so proud of you,'” Parton said as Clarkson became emotional.

“Because I felt like she was watching you,” she continued. “You absolutely killed it, and I was so emotional.”
