Royal insiders are speaking out this week to say that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s exit from the royal family had a “detrimental effect” on Queen Elizabeth in the final months of her life before she died in September at the age of 96.

‘It Really Affected The Queen’s Health’

Daily Mail reported that a well-placed royal source said that while the Queen’s health was already on the decline for reasons unrelated to Megxit, the drama surrounding Meghan and Harry certainly did not help.

“It really affected the Queen’s health,” the insider said. “It had a detrimental effect on her health. Yes she was elderly and there were other issues with that but nevertheless all the Harry and Meghan claims certainly contributed to that.”

“I’m just so glad the Queen isn’t around to hear all about this latest program,” the source added. “It is the very opposite to duty, unity and sacrifice – everything that she was brought up to believe in and which she embodied.”

While the Queen’s official cause of death was listed as “old age,” those close to her have said that her “mobility issues” were aggravated by Meghan and Harry’s decision to step down as senior royals.

Royal Expert Sounds Off

This comes after it was revealed that Meghan and Harry are pushing for a “royal summit” with family members to discuss concerns raised in their recent Netflix docuseries “Harry + Meghan.” It’s been reported that Meghan in particular wants an “apology” from the royal family.

“If all they wanted was an apology, they could have gotten that over a Zoom two years ago,” royal expert Shannon Felton Spence told Fox News. “They wanted to use the situation to its full extent to set up their new lives… It’s not that I don’t think a summit will happen, [but] what exactly is it going to change? Nothing. And the royal family has made that clear.”

The royals are reportedly “bewildered” by the couple’s request and are “refusing to respond” until Meghan and Harry are willing to admit their own mistakes.

“There is blame to be shared here,” Spence said. “Reputations have been hurt all around. There wasn’t a ‘summit’ during Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral [in September]. They knew that the Netflix doc and [Harry’s] book were upcoming and there was no getting out of that. I fear that it will be too late once we see what’s in the book, which is reportedly very unflattering to [Camilla] the queen consort.”

“The royal family has made it clear that they are not playing this game,” she continued. “When they didn’t respond [to the docuseries] we saw exactly what their strategy is – fly above the drama. Harry and Meghan will outplay their hand… in the near future, probably with the book.”

Another Royal Expert Weighs In

Royal expert Katie Nicholl said it is unlikely that the royal family will make the first move when it comes to apologizing to Meghan and Harry.

“What needs to happen is an admission that there have been faults on both sides and once there has been that admission, that may pave the way for a reconciliation,” Nicholl explained. “But Charles knows that a monarchy divided is not a monarchy the world wants to see.”

“Harry knows full well William isn’t going to retaliate,” she added. “I think the palace’s stance of never complain, never explain in this instance is absolutely the right strategy because if they comment they will only fuel the narrative and allow the story more oxygen to run. I think by saying nothing it’s a dignified stance.”

It’s sad that the Queen had to spend her final years dealing with Meghan and Harry’s nonsense. We can only hope that the royal family stays strong and does not give them the apology that they’re craving!
