WWE Crown Jewel 2022 is in the books as the company returned to Saudi Arabia. Now, we look back at each match and assign some grades.
Heading into the match, this was easily the weakest. Braun Strowman has dramatically improved over the years, but Omos has a far way to go as he is very green.
We knew MVP would not be there because of his past legal issues. Therefore, Omos had to rely on his skills to try and secure the win.
As we all knew, the battle between a monster and a giant was going to be sloppy. If anything, at least WWE was able to cross the match off the list and hopefully move to other storylines. Grade: C
Somehow, WWE had kept Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley away from singles action for so long. For many, they consider this a dream contest.
Before the bell, Lashley jumped Lesnar and then we saw a familiar pattern. Both men relied on power moves and neither had the advantage.
The final sequence reminded me of Bret Hart and Steve Austin from Survivor Series 1996. Clearly, the feud is not over as Lashley turned heel and attacked Lesanr after the bell. Grade: C
Roman Reigns’ current heel run is something we might not see for generations. Seemingly, he is unstoppable as he defeated top contenders and former champions.
Then, there is Logan Paul, who, at the time, had two matches under his WWE name. Great athletic ability from Logan, but he is not Reigns or a veteran wrestler.
I will give Logan credit for his performance and WWE really billed how one lucky punch could end everything. Reigns winning was not a surprise and neither was offense from Logan, who should be champion someday. Grade: B
First, it is nice to see women being presented more-and-more from the Saudi Arabia shows. Still, they need to get past the belief that women need to be mostly covered.
Bayley was busy preparing for her match later in the evening, so she was absent. Therefore, the titles should have stayed in-place.
Instead, Nikki Cross got involved and turned on her former friend, Alexa Bliss. My biggest complaint is how WWE moves the Women Tag Team Championships around too frequently. Grade: B
Since returning to WWE, Karrion Kross is doing so much better. All it took was Vince McMahon’s hush money scandal to cause change.
At every turn, Kross has gotten the better of Drew McIntyre and Scarlett is the main reason why. So, the Steel Cage’s purpose was to eliminate outside interference.
Although, Scarlett got involved from the outside. This time, Scarlett’s dirty tricks cost her husband the win. Grade: B
The Judgment Day has been going strong, meaning someone needs to stop the heels. Instead of joining the stable, AJ Styles decided to reconnect with his friends, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows.
Heading into the match, The Judgment Day had the numbers with Rhea Ripley on the outside. In the end, she allowed her stablemates to secure a win.
Seeing how the ending went, I thought Beth Phoenix would return to go after Ripley. It did not happen, but the six person tag team match was fun. Grade: B
The Bloodline had a big night, with The Usos up first. The Usos are known for delivering great performances and Crown Jewel was no different.
Credit needs to be given to both teams as they had the fans buzzing. Great teamwork from everyone and it might have been The Usos’ experience together why they won.
It would have helped if Sami Sayn was there to further his program with The Bloodline. Although, Sami is not wanted in Saudi Arabia and he has the same feelings. Grade: B+
While women have been wrestling from Saudi Arabia for a few years, this marks the first gimmick match. Honestly, I cannot remember the last time WWE had a Last Woman’s Standing Match.
What a great match by both ladies. When Bayley appeared to hurt her knee, I thought it was a legit injury.
For a country that is tentative about women competing, Bayley and Bianca Belair stole the show. Belair is still champion in what might be the best match ever out of Saudi Arabia. Grade: A-
