Mario Lopez Hit With Backlash After Posting Republican Tweet

Mario Lopez of “Saved By The Bell” fame is being hit with backlash on social media after he posted a tweet that is being widely shared by conservatives on Election Day.

‘Before You Vote…’

“Before you vote: Go grocery shopping, gas up your car, pay your bills, look at your 401K. Then vote,” the tweet reads.

It didn’t take long for liberals to lose their minds in the replies of Lopez’s tweet. 

“Can I look in my daughter’s eyes instead and break the news to her that Slater is all for gutting climate change protections and taking away abortion and voting rights?” wrote Ethan Sacks, who is a writer for Marvel.

Backlash Against Lopez Escalates

That was only the beginning of the backlash against Lopez for simply expressing conservative views:

One Twitter user stooped so low as to bring up a rape allegation against Lopez from 1993 that did not result in any charges, according to The Los Angeles Times.

Thankfully, there were some conservatives who came to Lopez’s defense:

Lopez’s tweet came as a surprise to many since he has made a point of staying quiet about politics, something he eluded to earlier this year in an Instagram post. However, it should be noted that many conservative entertainers feel that they have no choice but to remain silent about their political views, given the fact that Hollywood is run by radical liberals who will do everything in their power to blacklist anyone who expresses rightwing opinions.

Lopez’s History With Liberal Mob

Lopez has already experienced what it’s like to be targeted by the leftwing mob. Back in 2019, he received backlash after he told the conservative media personality Candace Owens that he feels it’s “dangerous” for parents to support their transgender children. He said this after Owens pointed out that Lopez’s son has “boyish” interests as she called out the “weird trend” of celebrities allowing their children to choose their gender identity. 

“I’m kind of blown away, too,” Lopez said in response, according to NBC News. “I’m never one to tell anyone how to parent their kids, obviously, and I think if you come from a place of love, you really can’t go wrong, but at the same time, my God, if you’re 3 years old and you’re saying you’re feeling a certain way or you think you’re a boy or a girl or whatever the case may be, I just think it’s dangerous as a parent to make that determination.”

“It’s sort of alarming, and my gosh, I just think about the repercussions later on,” he continued, going on to add, “When you’re a kid … you don’t know anything about sexuality yet. You’re just a kid.”

Lopez Backtracks

After receiving tons of backlash for this from the left, Lopez backed down and issued an apology. 

“I have been and always will be an ardent supporter of the LGBTQ community, and I am going to use this opportunity to better educate myself,” Lopez said in a statement. “Moving forward I will be more informed and thoughtful.”

However, this apology only resulted in Lopez getting attacked by conservatives who were disappointed to see him caving to the liberal mob:

It seems clear that Lopez is a conservative who has realized that in order to continue working in Hollywood, he must keep his rightwing views to himself. We applaud him for having the guts to post his latest pro-Republican tweet, and we hope he stays strong in the face of the hateful leftwing backlash that he’s receiving for it!
