Rumors have been swirling for weeks that Tom Brady’s marriage to his supermodel wife Gisele Bündchen is on the rocks partly due to his decision to un-retire and continue playing in the NFL as a quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this season.

Despite this, Brady indicated in a new interview that he has no plans to retire anytime soon.

‘No Immediate Retirement In My Future’

During this week’s episode of his “Let’s Go!” podcast, Brady was asked about speculation that he may retire from football once and for all if his team doesn’t start improving this season. He’s currently leading a team that is under .500 in a season for the first time in 20 years, according to Entertainment Tonight.

“There’s no immediate retirement in my future,” Brady said in response. “There was a retirement in the past, but I moved on from that. I made a commitment to this team and I love this team and I love this organization.”

“I told them in March I was playing and I’ve never quit on anything in my life,” he added. “And I know, as a bunch of teammates, that we all count on one another to be at our best and to work hard and to put the team first. And that’s what you commit to and that’s what you want your teammates to commit to as well… I’m always trying to work hard and I’m always trying to commit more to the things that are important to me. And this team is very important to me and I certainly want to be the best I can be for them.”

‘It Feels Terrible Losing’

That being said, Brady couldn’t deny that losing so much this season has been hard on him.

“It feels terrible losing. It feels terrible,” he said. “We all know, as fans it feels terrible. As players it feels terrible. As coaches it feels terrible. So what do you do? Do you just do the same thing and then show up to the game the same way? No, you just, you focus on the process of improvement and that’s what it has to be.”

Despite this, Brady was adamant that he is “absolutely” still in love with the game of football.

“It’s a hard sport we’ve chosen and it’s tough. It challenges you in every area, physically, mentally and emotionally,” he explained. “And certainly at this stage we’re in, this is where you gotta dig deep and see what you’re all about and see what kind of character you have and see what you believe in and your values as a team. Do you stand up for each other when you face adversity or do you not? That’s what we’re all trying to figure out every time we take the field.”

Rumors Brady’s Marriage Is On The Rocks

This comes after weeks of rumors that Brady’s marriage to Bündchen, who he has been married to since 2009, has been on the rocks partly because of his decision to return to football this season after saying that he was retiring at the end of last year. Bündchen told Elle last month that she has concerns about Tom continuing to play football because it is a “violent sport.”

“Obviously, I have my concerns — this is a very violent sport, and I have my children and I would like him to be more present,” she said. “I have definitely had those conversations with him over and over again. But ultimately, I feel that everybody has to make a decision that works for [them]. He needs to follow his joy, too.”

Bündchen And Brady Rumored To Be Talking To Divorce Attorneys

Bündchen has yet to attend any of Brady’s games this season, and each of them have been seen without their wedding rings on over the past few weeks. Sources have also claimed that both Bündchen and Brady have been consulting with divorce lawyers.

“Gisele has hired a divorce attorney to discuss her future plans,” said one source. “At this point, it’s more of her decision to move things forward in this direction. Things are a bit difficult, both personally within their family, and because they both have huge assets.”

“Tom isn’t taking things well,” this insider added. “He wants to reconcile and was still holding out hope that they could work things out. He is extremely hurt and misses Gisele being by his side. He feels abandoned in a way. He loves his family, but also wants to continue his career. He feels like he is in a tough spot.”

Bündchen will undoubtedly not be happy about what Brady had to say on his latest podcast, as he seems to be further away from retirement than ever. If football truly is the root of this couple’s problems, the prospects of their marriage lasting are certainly not looking good.
