Rhea Ripley – NXT Return, WWE PLE Changes For 2023

Rhea Ripley has been on the main roster on Monday Night RAW since 2021. She is currently part of a successful faction on the brand, called Judgement Day. With that said, it seems as if she’s returning to NXT for another match, this week.

During a backstage segment with Cora Jade last night on RAW, the former NXT Women’s Champion confirmed she’d be on NXT this week. Jade asked Ripley if she was going to wrestle Roxanne Perez.

Ripley stated she’d “destroy” the star on NXT, this Tuesday. Rhea suffered a brain injury some months back and hasn’t been medically cleared to compete in the squared circle.

However, Ripley returned to action this past weekend at WWE live events. If this is the case, there’s a very good chance she’s finally gotten the clearances she needs for in-ring action.

In addition to Rhea, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, two men fighting with Judgement Day, will also be on NXT this week. Plus, Raquel Rodriquez will be in attendance, too.

Ripley began wrestling in 2013, at the age of 17. She spent a number of years in Riot City Wrestling and even became a 2-time women’s champion for the promotion.

Rhea signed with WWE in 2017 and participated in the inaugural Mae Young Classic event. She’d move to NXT UK in 2018.

In 2019, Ripley made the jump to NXT. She spent two years in the (then) black and gold brand, creating a name for herself in the company.

Rhea became NXT Women’s Champion. She also had some incredible accomplishments, including defeating both Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks in a triple-threat match (on SmackDown) leading up to the 2019 Survivor Series event.

Ripley’s also experienced success while on the main roster. In just a span of a year and a half, Rhea’s scored the RAW Women’s title and has held one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships.

Regardless, it seems like this week’s NXT will be one heck of a show. Speaking of “shows”, there’s a buzz that the WWE has made changes to its 2023 premium live events (PLE).

There have been many changes since HHH began leading WWE creative this past summer. Not only has he brought back talent that was released months before, but he’s also made tweaks to programming and storylines.

Sounds like there’s more to come. But now, his focus is on premium live events in 2023.

Changes On The Horizon For WWE PLE In 2023

Brian Alvarez already recently revealed that the WWE was cutting the Day 1 premium live event from its schedule in 2023. He tweeted this from his SUPER FOLLOWERS Twitter handle.

Alvarez also notes that the company wants to do fewer gimmick shows and more international ones. There is a chance fans could see less of PPVs like Hell in a Cell and Extreme Rules.

Only time will tell what types of premium live events fans will see next year. It’ll be interesting to note the changes.
