RAW In A Nutshell: Belair Battles Bayley In Charlotte…

It’s time for another RAW In A Nutshell, and this week the red brand visits North Carolina, where Bianca Belair battles Bayley in Charlotte…

No, that is not lost on me. Could we see a return tonight?

Belair battles Bayley in Charlotte, just not for the RAW Women’s Championship yet, but that is not all.

We inch closer to Crown Jewel, so of course…more hype.

Omos might be there, squashing even more wrestlers.

What’s next for Damage Control?

Or, how about the reunited OC and Judgement Day?

Elias is back…will he finally get to perform?

Johnny Gargano has told us that The Miz has a secret…will we find out the Truth this week?

But…it’s all about that RAW Women’s Championship scene tonight, so let’s do this…

RAW In A Nutshell: Belair Battles Bayley In Charlotte…

Let’s crack open this Nutshell and get into it!

Best Match of the night:

We opened with a good one, Anderson and Balor.

But we closed with Bayley and Belair, and they continue to deliver the goods.

Honestly, I thought this was supposed to be for the title…but not yet.

The return of Nikki Cross…yes…Nikki CROSS, no more A.S.H….throws a wrench into things. She attacked…well…everyone.

Worst match of the night:

Omos squashes. Tonight, and basically all others.

Crowd Chants of the Night:

We had a few, like Johnny Wrestling.

But this was an odd crowd, especially for Charlotte. Sometimes the crowd seemed too quiet, and fans on social media noticed.

Like…you heard fans taunting some, like even Bayley during the main event.

Star of the Night

Belair and Bayley, for sure. Strong match.

Also liked the return for Cross.

Gargano, JBL, even a little bit Corbin.

Spot of the Night:

This should do it…

Jobber of the Night:

These four.

Look, we get it, Omos is a terrible monster. Operative word here…terrible.

Stop wasting any amount of TV time on squash matches with him.  Been there, done that, if that is all he can do or mostly all he can do…then the issue is…him.

Upset of the Night:

The returning R-Truth…with a little help…got a win over The Miz.

Surely that counts.

Holy Sh** Moment of the Night:

I have to give WWE credit.

When Bayley “attacked” Candace, but did so by turning the camera away first? I was convinced that we were about to witness a Candace turn.

I hope, since we did not, that perhaps we will instead be getting a bit of a Way reunion, as Indi misses Candace.

Still…really got me there, so well done.

Botch of the night:

Omos. Not that he had one…but he probably did.

Commentary of the night:

JBL is going for major, old school, super hated heel.

But…as I said last week…the “Shamrock” stuff got old fast, it isn’t aging well at all.

LOL Moment of the night:

A couple choices.

One, R-Truth is back, and had to get in and get involved when Gargano was trying to get the…well…Truth…out of The Miz.

Or, Johnny Wrestling calling JBL MC Hammer-pants.

Noteworthy Moment:

Fans wondered it last week, what would the OC do about Rhea. We don’t yet have that answer, but based on what was said, someone is coming.

But…who…

And…while at times it looked like Elias was going to knock Riddle out with the guitar…it seems we might have a new tag team?

Then again, if WWE decides that Elias works better as a heel…it wouldn’t shock me to see him turn on Matt…

Overall lowlights:

JBL is an all-time great heel, but some of what he’s doing now just isn’t working for me. My only silver lining is, perhaps this actually gets Gargano over?

No matter what they do, Dom just isn’t getting over, is he? Invoking Eddie isn’t helping.

Like, sure he has heat…but I think it’s genuine disdain, more than heel heat.

Overall highlights:

I do like some of the subtleties. Like, Rollins acknowledging his past with Theory.

Previous folks didn’t do that much, if at all.

OC versus Judgement Day is worth it, and I cannot wait to see who they pick to go against Rhea.

After the final bell:

John Deegan

Introduced to professional wrestling in the 1980's thanks to Superstars and Saturday Night's Main Event, John's passion for the medium was reborn thanks to ECW in the 90's. A former in-ring "talent" with a career 0-2 record, he finds it more rewarding, and far less painful, to write about wrestling now.
