The backstage reaction to Crown Jewel has been surpassingly positive. Also, Eva Marie was written off TV as she has another to work on.

Backstage Reaction To Crown Jewel

WWE returned to Saudi Arabia on Friday with Crown Jewel and they were “really thrilled” with how things went according to PWInsider.

The general belief is it was one of the better major shows over the past year. Also, social media seemed to have a positive response.

This is a big difference from many of the other Saudi Arabia shows. They have been met with negative responses based on the quality of matches and feelings towards the country’s government.

Highlights From Crown Jewel

The show featured several title matches with a few big names. Goldberg defeated Bobby Lashley, Zelina Vega became the inaugural Queen’s Crown while Xavier Woods won King of the Ring.

Also, Edge ended his feud with Seth Rollins by winning inside Hell in a Cell. Finally, the show concluded with Roman Reigns retaining his Universal Championship opposite Brock Lesnar.

The main event saw Paul Heyman torn on who he was going to support. Towards the end, he tossed the belt into the ring but it was in the middle of the two superstars.

As of now, there is still no word on where Heyman’s alliance actually stands. Lesnar does not seem done with Reigns or Heyman as the angle likely goes a few more months.

WWE’s controversial deal with Saudi Arabia runs through 2028. It might run longer as they are supposed to hold two events a year.

Although, COVID caused only one show in 2020 and the same for 2021. This might cause WWE to stay for an extra year or try to book three shows a year.

Eva Marie made her WWE return earlier in the year. Then, on RAW this week, the company ran an angle.

Basically, Shayna Baszler injured Eva. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted how she is currently working on another project.

There were no further details like what project or how long she will be out.

Her first WWE run went from 2013 to 2017, where she was also featured on Total Divas. She signed a new contract in October of last year and was back on TV in May.

And, she did not return alone as Doudrop was brought in. The partnership did last long, with Doudrop leaving Eva behind.

During both runs, Eva did not receive a warm reception from fans. Many are upset that she is featured on TV despite a lack of in-ring skills.

The past few weeks have seen WWE use more female superstars than in the past. That was because they had two tittle matches at Crown Jewel and the Queen’s Crown Tournament.
