Meghan Markle has caused quite a lot of trouble for the royal family since she married Prince Harry back in 2018. In a bombshell new book about the royal family, the private nickname that Harry’s father King Charles has for Meghan has been revealed, and it may surprise you.

Charles’ Nickname For Meghan

In her book “The New Royals,” the renowned royal expert Katie Nicholl wrote that after Charles first met Meghan, he came up with his own nickname for her.

“Charles reportedly nicknamed his future daughter-in-law ‘Tungsten’ because of her toughness and resilience,” Nicholl wrote, according to Entertainment Tonight.

Tungsten is defined by RSC as being “the heaviest metal to have a known biological role,” and it is famous for being incredibly strong.

Nicholl claimed that Meghan’s resilience was also immediately apparent to Prince William and Kate Middleton during their first joint appearance with her and Harry at the Royal Foundation Forum in 2018.

“It was, according to one aide, the moment William and Kate, who was heavily pregnant, realized they needed to up their game,” Nicholl explained. “The Cambridges had already signaled their intention to be more than ‘ornamental royals’ and had, along with Harry, made a huge success of their mental health campaign Heads Together.”

“But Meghan was the breakout star of the foursome,” the royal expert added. “She was polished, passionate, and funny, using all her TV-honed skills to present her case. That was a wake-up moment for William and Kate when they realized that Meghan was very impressive, very confident, and very capable, according to a source.”

Meghan’s New Nickname In California

This comes after sources said that Meghan has been given the nickname “Princess of Montecito,” which is the name of the California city that she now resides in, by her new neighbors there.

“There’s a lot more going on in Meghan’s world than people think, she just keeps it very private these days but her royal status gives her a lot of leverage,” an insider told Closer. “She spends most of her time in Montecito, but she heads into L.A. every week or so.”

“If she’s going into Beverly Hills or West Hollywood for lunch or dinner, she’ll generally call ahead and request a table that is completely secluded,” the source added.

Meghan was born and raised in Los Angeles, and she spent years trying to make it as an actress in Hollywood before marrying Harry. One can’t help but think that the ritzy area of Montecito, where the likes of Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres call home as well, is where she’s wanted to end up all along.

Charles ‘Devastated’ By Rift With Harry and Meghan

Nicholl told Fox News earlier this month that Charles has been left “devastated” over the rift that has formed between Harry and himself in the years since he and Meghan stepped down as senior royals and moved across the world to California.

“Charles absolutely has been devastated by what has happened,” Nicholl said. “If you think back just a couple of years around the time of [the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s] wedding, the relationship between Harry and his father was, I think, probably better than it ever had been… Harry and Meghan spent time with Charles and Camilla in Scotland. They went on holiday together. It all looked very rosy and very happy.”

“I think Charles has been devastated by how things have spiraled,” she continued. “And he is hopeful that there will be a reconciliation. I think we saw that in the very… public olive branches that were extended to Harry and Meghan. After the queen’s death, particularly in that first speech that Charles gave to the nation, he spoke of his love for Harry and Meghan. He addressed them on first-name terms.”

Charles Desperate To Reconcile

After Queen Elizabeth passed away last month at the age of 96, Harry and Meghan immediately rushed home to California after her funeral service. Despite this, sources have told Nicholl that Charles is still hoping for a reconciliation with his son in the future.

“He does want to sort his relationship with his son,” said Nicholl. “He wants to do it on a personal level because he loves his son. He’s never stopped loving his son. He may not be happy about everything that’s been said, but he wants to have a relationship with Harry and he wants to have a relationship with his grandchildren.”

Since leaving the royal family in 2020, Meghan and Harry have repeatedly bashed the royals, so a reconciliation may be easier said than done. Given everything that has happened since 2018, it’s certainly interesting to see that Charles initially had a positive nickname for Meghan.

We can only imagine what his nickname for her would be now.
