Before we get to the main card, WWE tossed in a few names for six-person tag team match. First off, both teams are kind of an odd couple.

The Street Profits were there to get the crowd buzzing and they accomplished their job. Austin Theory was a great source of heat and it reminded fans the MITB briefcase is in Wales.

As expected, the match was decent and could have been saved for the halfway point of RAW. Montez Ford continues to look like a future singles champion. Grade: B-

SmackDown Women’s Championship: Liv Morgan vs Shayna Baszler

Heading into the match, Shayna Baszler was getting a renewed push because of Triple H. Liv Morgan entered the match with a bad arm and shoulder.

Obviously, Baszler was focusing on the arm as it helps with her MMA background. For the most part, Baszler had the upper hand and that adds up.

Although, give Morgan credit as she continues to improve and shows true passion. Morgan retains as this amazing journey continues. Grade: B

Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss & Asuka vs Bayley, Dakota Kai & Iyo Sky

SummerSlam opened with several shocking returns. Putting Damage Control together was a great idea by WWE.

A fun opening match, featuring singles action and the teams working together. WWE was focused on Bianca Belair, making her seem almost unbeatable.

Unfortunately, that is not what happened with the RAW Women’s Champion. Thanks to teamwork, Bayley pinned the champion and is likely getting a title shot. Grade: B

Undisputed WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns vs Drew McIntyre

For two years, nobody could defeat Roman Reigns and he claimed both world titles at the same time. With the event coming from Europe, Drew McIntyre had the best odds of everyone to defeat “The Tribal Chief.”

Karrion Kross was at ringside, so he was another factor fans needed to watch. The match was about blunt-force being thrown by a pair of heavyweights.

I wish McIntyre won as he deserved a title win in-front of fans. Solo Sikoa is now part of the bloodline and is the only reason Reigns is still champion. Grade: B+

Edge & Rey Mysterio vs The Judgement Day

A major question heading into the bout was Dominik Mysterio, who could join The Judgement Day. Still, that would not takeaway from the actual match.

Before the match started, I remembered Edge & Rey Mysterio were former tag champions and a great combo. Man, what a massive pop for Edge too.

Awesome teamwork from everyone as they elevated the match. I want a rematch, but Dominik turning on Edge and his own father scrapped those plans. Grade: A-

Intercontinental Championship: Gunther vs Sheamus

We all knew Gunther would be there, but not Imperium. A nice addition made by Triple H to help balance The Brawling Brutes.

Cool opening as Gunther and Sheamus did not take their eyes off each other as everyone battled around the ring. Heading into the match, you knew both were leaving with bruises.

Both men certainly needed ice and heat as their bodies looked like mashed burger. What a slugfest where Gunther somehow walked-out still champion, but Sheamus felt like the real winner. A-

Matt Riddle vs Seth Rollins

Matt Riddle taking on Seth Rollins is something we thought would happen at SummerSlam. Instead, WWE waited and the feud intensified.

This was not the normal Riddle, who likes to crack jokes. Riddle was all business at first, before Rollins took advantage.

You knew the match should be good, but they made it fantastic. Riddle won with a pair of huge curb stomps, with both men looking like major stars out there. Grade: A-
