Fellow Musician Kane Brown Addresses Morgan Wallen’s N-Word Controversy For The First Time

One year after country music star Morgan Wallen was caught saying the N-word during a night out with friends, his fellow musician Kane Brown has this to say about the controversy.

Brown Speaks Out About Wallen

“This is the first time I’ve ever even talked about this, but I personally know Morgan,” Brown told The New York Times. “I texted him that day. I told him he shouldn’t have said it, but also knowing Morgan, I knew that he didn’t mean it in the way that the world thought that he meant it.”

Brown went on to say that he would probably feel differently if Wallen had said the word in a different context.

“I think if it was in a different context, I probably would have been fighting,” he said.

Backstory: Racial Slur Gets Chart-Topping Country Music Star Morgan Wallen Banned From Radio

Brown and Wallen have worked together in the past, with Wallen co-writing Brown’s song “Rockstars,” which you can check out below.

Brown Discusses Being A Black Country Music Star

Brown then said that as a black country music singer, Wallen’s scandal has put him in an awkward position.

“I guarantee you every artist probably got asked about it,” he said, adding that he feels like when he and other black singers like Jimmie Allen or Mickey Guyton were asked about the controversy, “was completely different than when they asked somebody else.”

“It’s like, they want an answer,” he explained.

In this same interview, Brown talked about what it’s like to be a black country music artist, saying that he often gets mistaken for other black stars.

“Even today, I walked in somewhere and they were like, ‘Oh, my God, you did so good on ‘Dancing With the Stars,’” he explained. “I’m like, ‘That wasn’t me; that was Jimmie Allen. That’s the other Black guy.’”

Brown Believes In Forgiveness

Unlike the “woke” crowd that pushes permanent cancellation for infractions like Wallen’s and that one, Kane Brown is someone who believes in forgiveness. He showed this with his powerful song “Learning,” which includes the lyrics:

“I’m gonna let it go
Forgiveness is something we gotta know
‘Cause if you hold on forever, it’ll hurt your soul
That’s why I’m learning how to let it go
That’s why I’m learning how to let it go”

That seems to perfectly sum up how Brown feels about Wallen’s use of the N-word scandal! Check out that song for yourself below.

Wallen And Brown Find Success

Wallen has apologized numerous times for using the racial slur in February of 2021, yet the “woke” cancel culture mob has continued to target him.

Despite this, Wallen’s fans have stood by him, and his music has remained incredibly popular.

Brown has also become one of the most successful figures in country music, and he’s preparing for the release of his new album “Different Man” on Friday.

“I’m most excited, when it comes to releasing this new project, for people to see how much I’ve grown as an artist,” Kane Brown said.

We’re glad to see that Brown was understanding about Wallen’s use of the N-word, and that he did not hop on the cancel culture train like many other celebrities did. If only more people would follow Brown’s path of forgiveness, instead of trying to cancel people forever for infractions such as this one!

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
